LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Looks like Katie Couric sees no point in reinventing the wheel.

Did Katie miss the memo from Oprah about how the demand for "daytime talk tv" has shrank? She couldnt even carry the evening news as a solo anchor the way everyone thought she could. I see her going the same route as Jane Pauly on this one...TANKING & CANCELLING.

well i must admit...i LOVED the way she savaged Sarah Palin. :D

If nothing else, that exposed how WOEFULLY uninformed Palin is & why nobody should be taking HER seriously. Aside from that, Couric is no Barbara Walters or Jane Pauley by any means.

Back on Good Morning America, She rode the waves of sympathy to become "America's Sweetheart" after her husband passed, then she did that colonoscopy segment live on primetime to help raise awareness about colon cancer & the need for screening & that WAS a good thing- but after that? i think she just kind of coasted. I was surprised that she got the spot on primetime news for solo anchor. I think Meredith Viera is a much better anchorwoman but @ the time, she didnt have enough seniority i guess (even though she filled Katie's spot on GMA after Katie left.

And that's fine and everything, but she shouldn't have let her personal feelings impact the way she did her job. There were plenty of ways to unbiased-ly (? lol) show Sarah Palin to not be a worthy candidate that she didn't need to turn it into a circus.

that i can agree with. Barbara or even Meredith wouldnt have done that. Hell Oprah & Ellen have had infuriating guests in the hotseat & managed to keep it together while still giving the person enough rope to hang themself.
