Casey Anthony has been found not guilty of murdering her daughter, 2 year old Caylee Anthony. She was found guilty on numerous accounts of lying to the police, but as for murder, she walked.

I don't know how it is everywhere else in the nation, but this trial has taken over Florida for the past 6 weeks. This case has been front and center for the past 3 years. So it's a pretty huge deal down here. I was shocked to find out that the jury found her not guilty simply for the sheer fact that EVERYONE believes she's guilty. However there is NO evidence that links her to her daughters death, therefore a part of me also thought maybe someone else did it.

Regardless, there's still no justice for that little girl which is the saddest part of this whole thing.

I haven't been following this but from what I've learned of the case this is distinctly not ok, the only thing they can actually get her on is lying to the cops nothing links her to that murder?! WTF?

Nothing DIRECTLY links her to the murder because she left the baby's corpse out in the swamp to be dragged, eaten, and to decompose so rapidly that the cause of death could not be pinned down.

But the car she drove and discarded had maggots in it, smelled of death by witness and forensic accounts, and had a stain consistent with a body being in it. There was duct tape on the baby that was consistent with a suffocation murder. She did not report the child missing for 30 days, telling her parents and the police lies that delayed the child's discovery, and in the end, her defense was that the baby drowned and that her Dad-who she accused along with her brother of raping her- taped her mouth to make it look like a murder and discarded her body.

Note that her Dad is a former cop and knew that nothing would come of an accidental drowning if that had occurred. Note that the allegations of abuse came up for the first time at trial. Note that she has no explanation for the child's disappearance and made up story after story to deceived everyone while her child rotted and was dragged across the woods.

In the end she was a weepy, pretty little white girl that the jury could not, WOULD not believe would have done this. They demanded a level of proof WAAAAY beyond what defendants every day go to prison on, including to Death Row. The took every morsel of uncertainty about things such as exact cause of death and extrapolated doubt as to the entire case when there was only on real way for it to go down.

I find this all to be just a bit outrageous. But I'll tell you what bothered me from the begeinning of my awareness of it was NANCY GRACE...gawd does she EVER STFU!? I really think SHE did more harm than good w/ all her constant ranting, speculation & overkill. I feel she USED that poor child as a ratings magnet. She's no John Walsh, she's more like an example of what we all hate about the media.

Caylee's murder goes unsolved & unpunished...that is a fucking travesty but she's not the first [Jon Benet Ramsey etc] & sadly she wont be the last. :( Casey should be forced to have a tubectomy so she can never have a child again. She's OBVIOUSLY an unfit mother.

Garrick, I thought that they found what appeared to be blood in her car, however there was no actual DNA in the stain? Or did I read wrong?

Either way, I think her entire family is one fucked up mess and one of them, if not all of them, were in on it in someway. Whether it was covering it up or actually participating in Caylee's death. I just think it's horrible that that beautiful little girl gets no justice whatsoever.

On a side note, I found it HILARIOUS that Kim Kardashian posted on twitter that she was sickened and shocked that Casey Anthony was foundnot guilty. LOL. I'm like, are you serious? Your dad was one of OJ's defense attorneys! When you looked up her name on twitter after that comment, millions of other people were TEARING her apart saying the very same thing about how "I bet Nicole Brown Simpson's family felt the same thing back in 1995". It was so funny.

I keep thinking about that farce of a trial involving OJ. I personally dont feel like the justice system in america works. there's the "idea" of it that we as americans are supposed to believe in BUT from state to state, city to city...& of course depending on who you are, how much money you have, who you know & yes...what color you are..."justice" may or MAY NOT be fairly & properly applied. I can tell you, having worked in the courts for several years on local & state level that in some of these situations race DOES factor in whether or not its explicit...its definately a motivating factor for alot of trials & the punishment given out & judges, DA's jury's etc...can all be guilty of it even though "you're not supposed to do that". its just like job discrimination. of course the law says you cant discriminate based on color BUT it happens all the time. hell it still happens based on gender but the employers know how to do/say things 'just so' so that it doesnt appear that was what motivated them. So in certain areas where racism is still thick or you have biased judges, DA's etc...the deck can & will be stacked against you if you happen to be the wrong color, gender or whatever else.

I think that if Casey were a black woman a) this trial might not have even gotten such coverage. when's the last time you saw nancy grace harp & obsess over a missing BLACK child?? b) she wouldve been moved through the court system & most surely been found guilty & locked up UNDER the jail in less time than it takes to get a damn income tax return by mail LOL!

meanwhile- the sad fact that stands out to me here is the task of meeting the burden of proof was apparently not met here- "not prooven beyond a reasonable doubt" but that doesnt mean she DIDNT do it. << SMH>> this is just pathetic to me.

It had a LOT to do with her being white. And it was not racism, though the result vs. a Black defendant is discriminatory. Allow me to explain.

People identify more readily with those that are most 'like' them. When a white jury (the vast majority of them are because Blacks are generally not called and are rarely retained) looks at Casey Anthony, they see someone who could be their daughter or granddaughter. If it were my wife, she would most certainly not look like someone who could be their daughter or granddaughter. SO her being white helped her a LOT, from media coverage to the jury raising the bar to 'beyond all doubt' which is not what it is.

As for the evidence, the jails are full of defendants who are jailed on flimsier proof than Casey Anthony's case. She was guilty and the jury balked at convicting her without a level of proof that no cold case could attain unless the bones can tell of a blunt force trauma, which a child in her position would not have. She was abandoned and rotted and eaten by animals.

So, either she did the thing and this jury fucked up or we owe a ton of defendants, many of whom are of color, an apology and a release.
