NEW YORK May 11, 2005 — Eva Longoria of ABC's "Desperate Housewives" tops Maxim magazine's sixth annual Hot 100 list of the most successful women of the year in film, television, music, sports and fashion.

Evangeline Lilly ("Lost") is in the No. 2 spot, followed by Jennifer Garner, Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Alba, Rachel Bilson ("The O.C."), Angelina Jolie, Brittany Murphy, Jessica Simpson and Sara Foster.

"These are the women whose names are on the lips of people the world over, whose careers are headed for the dizziest heights and whose looks will scorch the back off your retina," Maxim Editor-in-Chief Ed Needham said in a statement Tuesday.

Longoria, who ranked No. 91 on the 2004 list, said her selection for the top spot was "incredible."

"This year has been amazing for me," the 30-year-old actress said in a statement.

Tom Cruise's girlfriend, Katie Holmes, made her debut on the list at No. 22.

The Hot 100 also includes Ashanti (No. 13), Paris Hilton (No. 20), Anna Kournikova (No. 29), Avril Lavigne (No. 36), Halle Berry (No. 41) and Jennifer Aniston (No. 8http://www.uptoparr.com/phpbb/images/smiles/icon_cool.gif.

She does look better than Penelope Cruz and Jessica Alba.

She's not #1 though, Salma Hayek, Sofia Vergara,
Vida Guerra, Melyssa Ford, Lisa Raye and many others should be above them. MsCandy, PIE, Spellbinder and many other ladies on the Internet can put many of those girls on the hot 100 to shame.

Eva does look good, but the rest of them Brittany "trashy" Murphy, Jessica "my dad likes my boobs" Simpson, Jennifer "I need to eat" Garner? No way!!!

Personally I think the entire list is pointless and a waste of paper. Who the hell cares who's on the "Hot 100" list? Why make a list about people who already KNOW they are beautiful. It's bullshit in my opinion.

every now and then ill pay attention to this list. back when charmed was at its peak, shannen doherty, holly marie combs AND alyssa milano were making regular apperances on that list. I thought THAT was very interesting that ll three "charmed ones" would appear on that list so close together...and it prooves that many men DO find Shannen to be sexy..I've always thought she was sexy both in presentation AND in looks but alot of guys that i talked to were not as impressed by her looks (but they DO like her rack of course LOL :rolleyes: )Madonna, Heather Locklear and Demi Moore have also made semi recent appearences on that list and i think THAT shows that older woman are no longer being passed up for "hotness" factor these days.

but i tend to agree with shockwave on this. aside from an occasional curiosity, i dont see the need for this list. but then again...Maxim is a magazine for MEN so of course lists like this are going to be a staple lol.

I completely think that Eva Longoria deserves to be at the top of that List! She is frieken gorgeous and HOT! I would do her in a second! She is the hottest housewife and I would vote for her to be #1 as well!

I once bought an FHM 100 top women’s. My uncle's friend once saw it looked at me and then asked me "What is this teaching you?" I didn't know I thought it was a few photos of 'SOME' damn sexy women. He told me that "The book wasn't teaching me who is beautiful it teaches me what is beautiful." And that I should also ask myself "Who decides what is beautiful?" He then asked me "Is this person/people like you do they have your preferences? So why do I allow them to tell me who are the 100 most beautiful women and where are all the black women?"

The point he was making is that it isn't so much of a definitive list. As much as a guideline telling us what is the most desirable it doesn't just affect men it also teaches women that if you want to look good that is the image you have to go for. I'm attracted to a whole variety of women and the majority of the women on these lists are honestly not always that appealing to me.

In terms of Black and Asian women these lists tell us that Black women and Asian Women don't fall into the list of top 100, the majority of ethnic women don’t fall into this guideline. Does that mean that women of those races are less desirable and less attractive than the women on the list, of whom the majority come from one particular race? So I ask what do men seek and what do ALL women try to be and aren’t these lists damaging?

that goes without saying, daddy, these lists have notoriously overlooked black and asian women. there are a few such as halle berry and christina milian who have made the list but typically, these lists do tend to overlook those two races of women.

ultimately, i feel that these lists arent really anything to take seriously...its just a compilation of the "it girls" of the moment. and Eva is not all that. sure she's cute and she's the youngest "desperate housewife" but i dont think youthfullness necessarily equals "most beautiful" or "hottest".

Of course my top 10 changes all the time, but this is my top 10 for now... :D
