We knew that True Blood was easily the bloodiest and likely the sexiest show on TV—but according to a recent study, it turns out that it's also the most gay-friendly series as well.

In the latest annual survey by the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, HBO's vampire series had more gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender characters than any other series—six.

As for how the networks are doing as a whole, according to The Hollywood Reporter:

ABC continues to lead the other broadcast networks, with 11 gay characters. Fox, which a few years ago featured no regular gay characters, now has five. The CW continues to add gay characters, with three. NBC was the only network that declined from last year, down to three. CBS is in last place once again, with one.

On the cable side, HBO has the largest number of gay characters, followed by ABC Family. Showtime, Syfy, TNT, FX, Starz and Teen Nick also have a representative number.

The representation of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender characters is up 40% from last year, with 35 characters, representing 3.9% of all TV characters.

Wait....I can only count 5 gay characters on TB. Which one am I missing? Lafayette, Jesus, Pam, Russell, and Sophie-Ann. *scratches head*

Either way, I think that's great. :) Especially for networks like ABC Family and Teen Nick who's target audiences are kids/tweens/teens. It's good to see gay characters on those shows so kids know it's okay to come out and be proud of who you are.
