Another X-woman ruined by a combination of things, including bad writing, too much time "out of print" and the typical "destroy powerfull women" syndrome that seems to plague Marvel.
From her original appearence in Avengers in the early 80's to her rise in prominence in Ms. Marvel and Dazzler's original solo titles to her eventual joining the X-men, Rogue was definate a classic example of a bad girl reformed BUT unlike the White Queen, she didnt become annoying at first. Rogue remained a kick ass powerhouse and went from being disliked refugee at the X-mansion to being a CORE member during the X-men's darkest years through Claremonts reign up to her tragic "death" in the Seige Perilous. Jim Lee kept her flying high, giving her a "popular" make over...but by the mid 90's Rogue became saddled with too much drama , most of it emotional. Gambit, Magneto and even Iceman were love interests and she began to show too much weakness and vulnerability.
As the years passed, she was pushed more and more to the outer edge of the X-teams and finally, following the Messiah Complex, she left the team completely.
The good news is that her POWERS have finally been "fixed" and no longer in the deadly nascent stage that they were for over 20 years that she was "in print". She no longer has her Ms. Marvel power set (hasnt for a while) but what will become of her? If they write her more TOUGH again, i think she should come back to the House of X. She was too good in her prime and with Dazzler, Storm AND Psylocke now back on the X-men together, it only seems right to bring Rogue in as well to reunite "the big 4".
Anyone else a fan of Rogue?
