Who can inherit the wings of Farrah Fawcett, Jaclyn Smith, Cheryl Ladd and the like?

Actress and producer Drew Barrymore -- who starred in the film version of "Charlie's Angels" and "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" -- wants to revive the iconic 1970s series on the small screen.

According to Entertainment Weekly, ABC is close to ordering a pilot of the reboot, which Barrymore would develop with Leonard Goldberg, who produced the original series with the late Aaron Spelling.

The big question, should the project get the greenlight: what current actresses are fit to fill the shoes of Fawcett and her ilk? Should casting directors opt for up-and-coming starlets or established TV veterans?
-----

are they kidding? there will NEVER be a "new" Farrah Fawcett! To even suggest such a thing is an INSULT to the late actress' memory!

Okay, so the movies with Drew Barrymoore were campy and cute. Nothing like the original Charlies Angels series.....so that alone makes me worried. If they actually were to make a television remake of this show, it better damn well be action packed and drama filled. Not comedic bull with pretty ladies running around knowing that they're pretty.

If they stuck to the original show's concept, I think it could be pretty cool. But they'd really have to get a good cast and writers. Otherwise it'll just be a massive disaster.

I really did like the first Charlie's Angels movie. It was campy, cute and yet it had subtle nods to the tv series that FANS of the show would recognize.

I pretty much agree with your assessment, Sam. Although I am really irritated that they think they can find "the new" Farrah Fawcett.

I think Drew is SMART at least to involve Leonard Goldberg, one of the original producers of the original series. He's a sharp man and has been involved with Charlie's Angels, Dynasty and Melrose Place. he was also part of the media juggernaunt behind Farrah Fawcett that was launched right before CA debuted.

But i just wish people would remember that the ORIGINAL stands out for a reason. if you're going to remake something...don't be so arrogant to presume that YOUR vision is superior to the original and that you dont need to remember it or respect it.

I also think that going with "unknowns" is better than trying to find veteran actresses to play the Angels.

It may be best to go with three up and comers rather than any established actresses.

It would kind of be cool if Drew was "Charlie" lol

Oh GOD! Just let it rest. It's a CLASSIC, an iconic show that stands the test of time. We already have to deal with every movie being a remake or a prequel or whatever, let us at least have TELEVISION.
