This HARROWING movie directed by Lee Daniels and based on the 1996 novel "Push" will be coming out November 6.

I have seen the trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5FYahzVU44) and talking about your hair BLOWING BACK!?

The movie stars Mo'Nique, Lenny Kravitz, Sherri Shephard and (surprise) Mariah Carey but BEFORE you dismiss it based on Carey's involvement, read this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Precious_(film)#Reception) and this early review (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/25/magazine/25precious-t.html) from the New York Times

This movie is EASILY OSCAR worthy and Mo'nique turns in a SHOCKING, MONSTROUS performance as the abusive mother, "Mary Jones".

I'm going to see this film but i KNOW it's going to be very hard to watch.

I saw this trailer a few weeks ago. It looks like an amazing movie. And when I first watched it, I didn't even recognize Mo'Nique as the mother! I've only ever seen her in comedies, so I was seriously shocked. I can't wait to see this.

I saw the trailer a REALLY long time ago on Oprah.

The reviews so far seem to be good and there is HUGE Oscar buzz for Mo'nique but she's been acting like a total diva saying things like "I did the movie cause I needed the money." like I guess she is rubbing people the wrong way.

and DAMN! Mariah Carey! I wonder if she can redeem herself from Glitter?

By the way I really love this director/producer. He did "The Woodsman" with Kevin Bacon playing a convicted sex offender. It was a really hard movie to watch because you know watching the movie he's is this gross sex offender and you hate him, but then you feel bad for him but feel even worse because you feel bad for a sex offender. It's a rollercoaster movie that really makes you walk the line of your own morality. I loved it.

So based on that alone, i'm in this movie's corner, plus he produced Monster's Ball.

strange. i listened to her interview on a local r&b station down here and she spoke VERY highly of the movie and she seemed so excited to be apart of it.

I've always though Mo'Nique was a woman with incredible talent and presence and i'm GLAD to see she's REALLY stretching herself with a role like this. She's come a LONG WAY from her early days as a phone sex operator! LOL!

and DAMN! Mariah Carey! I wonder if she can redeem herself from Glitter?

you know what's scarey is that she was the ALTERNATE choice for the role. the primary choice was HELEN MIRREN! Talk about one HELL of risk!

Lee said that he FORCED Mariah to appear on set EVERY DAY with NO make up at all. he told her that if he saw even a SLIVER of make up on her he'd replace her wiwth another actress. he allowed NO diva antics from her and early reviews say that she ACTUALLY does a good job but i'll have to see THAT for myself.

Yeah, he is known for his different casting choices. I think he did a weird ass movie along time ago where Helen Mirren was like in love with her stepson and they had a kid! It was freaky.

Mo'Nique did this movie awhile back called Phat Girlz and I know it was really low budget and what not but I TOTALLY cried watching that movie because I totally identified with her character when I was overweight. She's a pretty multi faceted person and I am excited to see her in this.

Grrr. I am pretty miffed that this movie still hasn't been released in more theatres because it's not in my town and I want to see it!

Same here. I really REALLY want to see this movie and my theater isn't playing it. :( You figure with all the oscar buzz going on they would put it into more theaters.
