hey all. i'm able to return to other aspects of my life now and that certainly includes the board. we will return to the mainstream six storyline soon enough but for now i thought i'd join you all in the alternate story you're doing. :) just wanted to let you know so you wouldnt forget about the other one.

Well....my computer got royally FUCKED yesterday. I was stupid enough to go onto a website I was unfamiliar with and ended up getting 34 trojan viruses on my computer. So i'm calling the Geek squad today to see how much it will be to fix and how long it will take. So i'm hoping i'll get it fixed either today or tomorrow, but if not, i'll only have computer access at work.

But I just wanted to let you all know.

So I got a call a couple hours ago saying they were reinstalling Windows on my computer and would call me when they were finished. I feel like they probably are not going to call in time for me to get there before they close tonight. Assuming they are open tomorrow I'll probably get it back then. :)

So I had a hell of a day. I went to go buy my computer at best buy and they were sold out, so I went all the way up to Jacksonville after confirming they had the computer I wanted there only to find out they sold it. So then I tried both Walmarts near my town and they were sold out too. SOOO i ended up just ordering it online. So my new computer will be here between 1 to 2 weeks.

So my activeness [is that a word? lol] will probably be the same as it has been for the next week or so, but then i'll be back online normally. :)

Due to pressing personal issues, Garrick will be withdrawing from the Six. Nicolas will no longer be apart of the current storyline and simply be considered "off panel" indefinately. Garrick may return when/if possible but I think its rather unlikely. So it is with a bit of sadness that I announce the loss of yet another good player. Garrick was the LAST new recruit I found for the Six that actually stuck (unlike some others whom we've given a chance in years past). His contribution will be missed.

We will continue on with this story. Oracle will be moving us on this evening with a jump ahead but the plot wont be cheapened because of it. we have one more playing thread left in this storyline and there's lots of things to come in it. :)

I know we've been moving slow due to people having health issues, being busy with school/work, computer issues and such but I'm not ready to quit and i hope you guys arent either. I would like everyone to check in and just let me know how you feel about the game and if you are going to stay on! i have several ideas for new stories thanks to Sam and Vil and I look forward to continue playing with you who still remain!

Hey all, so I just got off the phone with Farrah. There has been some flooding by her living complex and to be safe, she has evacuated the house for fear of flooding. She is okay, and her living quarters are fine for now, but officials say that the water could rise five feet more than it already has. She's staying at a hotel and probably won't be on the boards for a little bit, but she is safe and so are the kitties. She said she will keep us all posted with news as she gets any!

No kidding, she said she was out of town and she came home to that. I am definitely GLAD I will be missing the Nevada Fire Season. I remember a few years ago, looking out the window at work and literally seeing the fire in the distance slowing edging forward! SCARY!

GODDESS BE PRAISED! My apartament COMPLETELY ESCAPED the water! My apartment is the only one on a HILL and the water didnt get up high enough (high as it already was) to reach my apartment! so NO DAMAGE!!! :cheers1:

He says they've been a little fussy and they stay close by each other but at night, they crawl up into bed with him. I will be reuniting with them this evening for the first time since this all happened. and I will be going home on sunday!

Thank you all for your concern and thoughts! As scarey as this was, I really did not go through it as badly as some others on the OTHER side of my complex did, they are still displaced due to extreme water damage. and there are others across Nashville (and TN) that lost everything. So i have VERY LITTLE to complain about. I stayed at a hampton inn & suites while some others had to stay in a shelter etc.

sooo we're moving along with this story and im enjoying it. vil and i are communicating about some details but everything overall is fine.

we'll do another "ghost story" after this before moving on to the next mainstream story which will see the arrival of some vamps (played by sam and lexi) the return of sharon and alycia and the emergence of a new, depraved villainous group.

the "ghost story" will be inspired by CARRIE (stephen king/brian de palma)

the cast (as far as the roles from the movie they will represent):

Alison Marble - "Carrie"
Morgan Victoria- "Christine Hargensen"
Nicolas King- "Billy Nolan"
Delilah Trelevan- "Sue Snell"
Zachary Armani- "Tommy Ross"

Still trying to decide:

Sharon Kelly OR Ava Cassidine- "Miss Desjarden/Miss Collins"

Sharon is an obvious choice given her attitude, her physicality past history of advocacy.

Ava (obviously being portrayed as an older woman in this story) would be a big switch but given her ability to be level headed and logical I was considering that. It would be a new way to spin the closeness between ava and alison in the mainstream as "Miss Cassidine" attempts to befriend and help the tormented outcast girl.

Neither woman in this role would be afraid to lay down the law against Alison's tormentors in school but depending on which one is cast...this would be shown quite differently.

Karen Victoria - Alison's religious fanatic, mentally unstable, abusive mother

Do i need to include her? Being that its non cannon, Karen will have no connection to Morgan. She'll be "Ms. Marble" It would be another dramatic switch for a character who is known for being nurturing but also has been s hown to be quite capable of slipping into a totally ruthless mindset, especially in her alternate reality counterparts.

im used to having the burden of more than one character to play so that wont be anything new for me.

i was considering having "karen" appear as delilah's mother near the end of the story in a small part rather than her being alison's mother and tormentor. i think that's the way i'll go with that.

so all that remains really is in put on sharon or ava as miss desjardin/collins.

I've never actually seen Carrie all the way through before. Just the infamous pigs blood scene....so I have no idea who any of these people are lol. But i'm open for anything. Just give me a synopsis of how my character is supposed to act and her background and I can roll with it.

sam- if you'd like to take on the role with ava, here's some info: Rita Desjardin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rita_Desjardin#1976_film)

particuarly the 1976 film (the one most of you would be aware of) or the 2002 version.

This woman is a teacher so she's older than the "kids". She's strong and once she realizes what's going on with carrie (or in this case alison) she steps in and defends her against her tormentors. she attempts to befriend carrie and help her as best she can.

if you play ava in that role, i'll have Sharon appear as the principal instead.

Garrick, the role for Nicolas is that of the boyfriend to glamazon Chris Hargensen or in this case Morgan. He's a rogue and a thug. Well connected but given over to violence whenever there's an opportunity for it and all too willing to engage in the humilation of alison.

this is a tale of a girl who is unliked, unwanted and unloved by most. she doesnt realize her POWER until a traumatic event, and as Miss Cassidine, Miss Kelly and Delilah (the only one of her tormentors to show remorse) try to help her...their efforts unwittingly set in motion a chain of events that spell disaster for the school and the entire town.

and sam...i highly recommend the movie (the 1976 brian de palma directed version). the sequel (1999) isnt too bad either.

oh that was thoughtful of you, Vil. However I've decided to scrap the "ghost story" between the current and next mainstream story this time. It seems that not enough players are familiar with "Carrie" and it would not a good idea to try to do a story based on a movie/concept most players arent familiar with. (im surprised, Carrie is such a classic movie i figured it would be more well known here but eh...no big deal)

There may be a chance for me to introduce certain aspects of the film into a later story but for now we'll just finish this one and prepare for the next one. Just wanted to let you all know.

For real though, the movie/book DOES have elements that play well in a drama-based metahuman RPG like ours. I am actually surprised that you have not had more religious undertones/pushback in our arcs.

well i may have presented it the wrong way- i was naming the characters in the film as examples of how i wanted the characters in the game to behave. the only person i was going to give some specific details to was vil for delilah, as she would be playing one of the pivotal roles.

im a BIG stephen king fan thanks to my grandmother. his books and most of the movie adaptations.

but i could see based on initial reactions that players hadnt seen or didnt remember the film well enough to be able to play without a higher level of direction from me and i didnt want to have to go that route. that takes the fun and creativity out.

we'll see what the future brings. we have enough material ahead of us now :)

well i assumed you wanted time to get things started with bishop and delilah and yeah there needs to be a little interaction time for the others at the parthenon too. I just posted actually so go ahead and do what you wanted to do with delilah and bishop cause i know you wanted them to go ahead of the others :)

even if you want them somewhere else in the parthenon away from the others, you can just say something like "Alison prearranged for them to have rooms on another floor" or whatever.

about Sissy Spacek and Carrie...I agree, its such a sharp contrast to her work in Coal Miner's Daughter (which i love) or many of her other good films. If you like her as an actress, I highly recommend "The Grass Harp" which reunites her and Piper Laurie (Margaret White in "Carrie") and also stars Nell Carter and also "In the bedroom"...both of those are AMAZING films. in "The Grass Harp" she and Piper Laurie do a "role reversal" of sorts w/ their characters. Once again they are very close ...in this film they are sisters rather than mother/daughter but Sissy's character is the domineering bitch while Piper's character is the more meek and mild. and "In the bedroom" is awesome...if you've ever seen "Ordinary People" w/ Mary Tyler Moore (riveting) it's kind of like that. Sissy's character is hell bent on revenge following the loss of her child.

and with the current story in the six - remember its your story, i'm just helping it to move along :)

Okay people, I saw more of what went on and so I really SHOULD say something to everybody.

First, THANK YOU, SAM for stepping in. I had no idea what was happening. As you noted and was the case, I've been up and down for the past week now in the aftermath of Shaun's passing. He was a very near, dear, special friend of mine and his death marks the end of an entire era from my past.

Next, We're all on the same side here and we've been playing this game for 5 years! I've known some of you LONGER than that. We should better able to communicate amongst each other so as to avoid blows up in the shoutbox over the game. AND in depth issues about the game, stories etc are not to be carried out in the shoutbox, they are to be carried out here in OOC OR via PM.

If you are confused about what is unfolding in a playing thread, if you have an issue with an action/event or feel like you're being hampered in someway, bring it up here for discussion. If you're not comfortable to do that, contact ME via pm. That's always been the way it should be handled.

Some storylines will be battle based, others will be more drama/soapy and others still may be more epic/adventure. Part of what has helped us stay creative and carry on is this mix of different storyline types. We do this because different players have different strengths and come from different backgrounds when it comes to what drives them creatively in this game. All the players bring something to the table that makes this group (IMO at least) one of the best groups of rp'ers on any message board :nod: Each story is an opportunity for you to do something with your character, develope another part of their personality, maybe learn to be more creative with their power manifestations etc.

This current storyline is Vil's creation. She's heading it and I'm assisting her. She had several plot points she wanted to occurr a certain way and she cued accordingly (just like I would w/ oracle). If anybody has an issue, confusion or problem with something...you should first bring it here or to the person heading the story to get clarification. IF you can't come to clear conclusion with that person or any other player in the game on something...if you're frustrated, at a loss, whatever...please come to ME and let me help. That's my duty as mastrix of this game. That's with ANY issue that may arise in the game.

There shouldnt be any blow ups in the shoutbox like what happened the other day.

Nobody should be feeling like they're "wrong" or "not a good player" and if there IS an issue with character development, I'd bring it up privately with said player.

We ARE moving more slowly through stories but that's okay. ALL of us have our offline lives. That doesnt mean a story is bad or failing. It just means we can't post as rapidly as we might like, but really does that matter? This is our game, our board...its not like we're on a deadline. :) We're supposed to be having fun here, using this game to escape, be creative and do what we've been doing for years now...make great stories and memories.

So we're continuing on and everything is fine. :nod: IF there are any lingering issues, please contact me via PM!

P.S.- EVERYONE please be sure when you post in character, if your character has moved from one location to another you indicate the location in the subject line of the post. alot of players have gotten away from that. it makes the posts flow better. thanks! :)

Also- as I understand it, Vil wants there to be no sign of Delilah at the wreckage of the cabin. Bishop used a last resort to try to stop Bianca and her troops and Bianca is using her unique "out of synch w/ time" nature to keep one step ahead of Alison and the rest of the team regardless of their sensory abilities.

We need to follow her [Vil's] lead on that.


I appreciate your interest and initiative and you will have opportunities to post accordingly as you have in moments thus far in this story. :) However, Oracle's post was just a bridge to help the gap between Vil's posts and our reactions..everyone needs to be back at the Parthenon right now reacting to Bishop's return and what was apparently Delilah's death, as Alison did "see" the death glow around her flash and envelope her in all immediate time threads and NOW can't "see" her at all and given Bishop's non verbal reaction to Morgan.

So now they're at the parthenon, reeling from what is before them at this moment.

Hey, I have a question about the Sword of Anger...

Originally when I was reading about it I thought that no one other than Black could touch the sword? Is that right? When I first pm'd JM about this, I said that Bianca would be able to touch it due to her unique nature. I just want to know for story reasons how we should treat the sword. Can others touch it without being harmed?

Black was a character created to go after Spellbinder (relenetlessly) in Valiant. As for his Sword, when it originally appeared in Valiant, the Sword was untoucable to Morgan only. While its POWER (when used by Black ) could harm others...the sword itself was nothing more than a physical object if it was somehow in someone else's grasp and would not harm them.

interestingly enough, tabitha is the first woman ive gone to with help with my computer. ive never encountered a female who does this kind of work. she's a lesbian (as i discovered upon meeting her face to face) and very friendly. i liked that she wasnt an asshole about this process (unlike some of the men who i called for estimates) and she only charged me $80.00 and not only cleaned it up, but totally redid my anti virus/security set up.

On a side note: Came across an interesting thread over at BB about RPGs. Since we always try to figure out why there are virtually no RPGs like ours anymore, I thought I'd share. The posts I'm reading indicate that "kids nowadays" (lol) feel like forum chats are too slow and they prefer "one on one" or real-time RPGs. Thought that was interesting. :)

"kids now adays"....God I feel old lol. But I can understand that. I know there are times in the game where they're a really great moment that's happening in the game and I want to see peoples reactions or what happens next, and nothing happens for a few days. That's definitely the downfall to a forum RPG. However, it also accommodates our schedules so everyone can RP, and we can continue a solid storyline which is documented for later reading. :)

I guess there are perks and downfalls to forum RPG's, but I still think it's sad that so many have died out.

I love our RPG, but it is a dying art.

Think of how many people leave high school with no ability to write creatively or enough imagination to visualize something written by someone else and add to it. That exercise isn't even done in schools anymore.

The above is part of it, the other part is the availability of incredible games with RPG capability, from Fable to now the DC Universe series. I am thinking of paying for a PS3 JUST for that.

It's so true Garrick. I literally learned how to write because of RPing. My vocabulary, sentence structure, everything was learned from reading other RPer's posts. It really helped me in school, and continues to do so. It's definitely sad that it's a dying art. :( Because i've had so much fun doing it throughout the years that I can't imagine NOT doing it.

OKAY. SO. Last week was a doozy, lol. I clocked out Saturday night with 58 hours on the week. Then I worked 8 more hours on sunday and 11 on Monday.

And when I wasn't working I came home and took a shower and went STRAIGHT to bed because I've been fighting this stupid cold/flu thing and it about kicked my ass Saturday and Sunday.

But it's okay, because today was my day off and I slept late, then laughed ALLLLLLL the way to the bank and ran all the errands that have been piling up on me lol.

The good news is I started feeling better yesterday and today I'm like 90% myself. So I'll be able to come home and enjoy my free time.

The bad news is that we are understaffed like y'all wouldn't believe, so the chances that I'll pick up extra shifts are high. So I might be on less than before, but I'm still here and expect me to participate. :)

but first, I have to read the trillion posts and get caught up. :p I'll try to do that tomorrow after I get home.

Update: 59 hrs this week. I'm so tired, but :D I'm squirelling away vacation money now. :D

I'm on the schedule this coming week to do 4 double shifts.... which is what I've been doing for the past two weeks, unofficially. I'm kinda thrilled about it, but my managers are not so thrilled about the 20 hours of overtime they're shelling out week after week. :hehe: They seriously tried SO HARD to send me home on Friday, and they weren't even trying to be sly about it, LOL. They were like 'honestly, aren't you tired?' and I'm like 'hell no, this bitch is HUNGRY. :D' and then someone didn't show up so they needed me. :D

The good news w/r/t my participation in the Six is that this morning when I went in I saw like five new faces leaving what must have been a mass orientation. So they HAVE hired a handful of people and I anticipate things WILL go back to normal [i.e. 30-35 hrs a week instead of 60] in a couple of weeks, once all these rookies get out of training. Until then, I just need y'all to bear with me.

I hate to slack off at the end of this storyline, because it's been great, really, but I haven't even caught up on the reading and when I signed in tonight it says 145 unread posts LOL.

well just so you know, vil, we enjoyed this latest storyline of yours ;) sure we may have moved SLOWLY due to life issues/obligations but nobody expressed any boredom or anything :)


the idea i have for the alternate story is one where the characters are in their early 20s. mystech is still global entity and morgan is not a sorceress but simply a mutant wind elemental (in keeping with her father's mutant genetic traits giving all his daughters an affinity for one of the four elements). the characters are all finishing college. morgan & firebird are sisters- delilah their longtime close friend. morgan's long time rival is a much younger helena quartermaine. nicolas is the adopted son of senator sharon kelly attends the school as well. a popular young man who'd rather indulge in science rather than sports. they all know about each other being mutants and they live in a very anti mutant society despite the efforts of people like Sharon.

basic personality traits:

morgan- regal, confident and stylish- she's very quick to take command

blaze- playful, curious and stylish like her sister- very loyal and protective of morgan and delilah

delilah- bright and gorgeous. adventurous, athletic and ready for action

helena- snobby, mischeivious and has no qualms about using her powers to advance her
agenda...especially to gain an advantage over ordinary humans

nicolas- rather straight laced despite his toned, athletic appearence, very intelligent and analytical

one night while out in the city, this group of young people a mob about to commit a hate crime against a young homeless mutant child and and attempt to intervene and that's when things go from bad to worse as they stumble upon something that will force them to depend on each other if they hope to survive.

powers: Morgan is a mutant elemental with the power to control the movement of air. this allows her generate wind with severe intensity into effects such as- wind blasts, tornados, cyclones, microbursts, windbombs etc ; lift/carry heavy objects and people, or deliver physical attacks using the force/power of wind to augment the impact of the blow enough to a superhuman degree; she is able to fly at high speeds and more subtly- amplify small vibrations in the air - allowing her to hear far away conversations. She can use her power to generate a severe cutting/shearing effect by the refining the force of the wind and She can also compress air into a person's ear to disrupt their middle ear's equilibrium thereby disturbing their balance. If there is a loss of oxygen in Morgan's immediate area, she can quickly replinish it, likewise she can deprive a localized area or specific target of his/her object as well, rendering them unconscious.

She has some athletic and martial arts training due to her sister and best friend. She is a very fluent and graceful dancer.

The daughter of two doctors and the younger sister of Morgan, although she comes from a well to do family, she doesnt let that go to her head. Where as Morgan is regal and often "removed" from most of her peers, Blaze is a social butterfly and helps bring people out of their shells- Nicolas King being one of those people. Popular with the boys for her beauty and slightly "tom boy"ish ways in certain things, Blaze is an inquizitive, curious person and enjoys solving mysteries or getting to the root of a problem. She is currently exploring her identity...including her sexuality while in college. She is very loyal and protective of her sister and their close childhood friend Delilah. Blaze is usually responsible for Morgan appearing at various parties that are the buzz of the campus or town.

Powers: Blaze is a mutant elemental with the power to control the movement of fire. This allows her to generate fire, heat or volcanic bursts of lava. She fires blasts of flame from her hands or eyes ranging from fire to thermal heat to lava. She can focus in on an object and excite all the atoms within it, causing the object to completely combust. By using her powers to ignite the air around her, she can surround herself with an aura of flames that often takes the shape of a bird. This aura will protect her from many projectiles and conventional artillery. She can fly by riding wind currents stirred up by the nimbus of fire with which she surrounds herself while flying. She can propel herself at speeds equivalent to that of a rocket. Firebird is immune to radiation and many forms of poisons. It's not clear if this is due to her elemental fire power or a possible secondary mutation involving an emerging healing factor.

Blaze is a well trained hand to hand combatant and martial artist.

Majoring officially in “exercise science” and unofficially in partying, Delilah is a star on the university soccer team but has no idea what she wants to be when she “grows up”. Just as beautiful but not as proper as Morgan, unlike Blaze Delilah doesn’t care about being at the “it” parties – for her, any party will do. Delilah gets the most out of life, choosing to live in the moment rather than looking towards the future.

Powers: Delilah has the ability to transduce any sound into light and manifest that light energy in a variety of ways, including but not limited to photon blasts, laser blasts, light shields, strobe lights, flashbulb effects, or geometric objects formed out of solid light. She can manifest her abilities through either her hands or eyes.

Though not trained in physical combat Delilah is an Olympic class athlete and should not be discounted in a hand-to-hand fight.

Daughter of rel estate tycoon mother and Psychiatrist father, to say she was born with a silver spoon in her mouth was an understatement. Considered Upper Manhattan royalty, she was always given what she wanted and destroyed whomever was likely to take it away from her, even as a young child. Bitchy, narcissistic, and spoiled, she is definitely the "Mean Girl" of college with eager minions to fall her every footstep. Every boys wet dream and every girls envy, she "rules" the campus despite her foes Morgan, Blaze, and Delilah best efforts.

Powers: Helena is an omnimorph who besides being able to alter her own physical form, can change the forms of other objects/people via telekinetically rearranging their molecules. She can also telepathically enhanced sensory illusions that encompass environments around her targets.

Helena is an elite gymnast.

Nicolas King, aka Torrent, is the adopted son of philanthropist billionaire and archaeologist Gustav, who has sent him to this school to round out his studies. His powers have made him incredibly intelligent and analytical, but he is still rather reserved; hearing everyone's thoughts does that to you. He had previously shunned athletics due to his physique and instead is mainly found in his lab, analyzing data and staying out of trouble. But since he arrived at college, a welcoming committee of extremely attractive young women has helped him to be less...quiet than before he came. He is extremely generous and polite.

Nicolas is a near-Omega level telepath/telekinetic. He is extremely durable, midly regenerative, and to date can lift 50 tons over his head, though he generally shuns physical force unless absolutely necessary.

It should be obvious that this story will only last one thread since its just a little alternate while we try and wait on lexi before moving on to Sam's mainstream story.

hey guys. :) my hours have dropped down to an average of just over 40 hours a week, lol. We gain people, we lose people and its like one step forward, two steps back. management IS seriously trying to regulate my overtime though, lol.
