There has been SO MUCH hype about this movie. I personally have never seen so many critics have such positive feedback about a horror movie in my life. Not to mention, every fan feedback I read, 9 out of 10 times it's either an A or a B rating. It really makes me want to see this movie even more than I did before.
Since it's only been screened in certain cities, has anyone seen it yet? Or is there anyone else on here that wants to see it too? I know I'm crossing my fingers that it opens near me. :)

I haven't seen it but I want to. I really like "this could be real" horror so it should be right up my alley if it's well done. Which sounds like it is.

the implications behind this movie are very disturbing. i'm surprised that LEGAL action hasnt been more agressively pursued against the people involved in making this film.
don't see it if you don't support "entertainment" at the expense of REAL PEOPLE (not actors)...one of whom apparently DIED while this film was being made.

What do you mean? I'm sure it was based on real events, but if you've seen the movie, I wouldn't say it was really "based" on any actual true story, it's pretty much the things you see in other horror movies of the kind.

No, it's not based on real events. Unlike the Blair Witch Project back in 1998 [the production company putting out that film said it was actual footage being used and that everything was real. They did that to try and sell the film and make people go, which they did.] Paramount specifically said this movie was made on a 10,000 dollar budget and WASN'T real. They didn't want the type of backlash the Blair Witch Project had when people found out it wasn't real.
The film maker made the movie to make it SEEM real. Like everything we were watching actually happened to make it more scary. Paramount bought it from the original director and showed it to Speilberg, who had every intention of remaking it with 'hollywood' effects and actors. That's when they started the test groups at the different colleges, to see if the movie, would in fact, sell without being remade.
Trust me, I was bored as hell at work and researched it LOL. I was just looking for reviews on it, but I found out the whole backstory. No one was harmed. ;) It seriously isn't real lol.

I really want to see this movie, because it looks really good and i've heard positive things about it from some friend's who have seen it.. I know it was playing at a theater in my town but I just didn't have the money to get a ticket to it and New Moon (I totally picked New Moon of course). So i'll have to wait for it to come out on DVD or what not.

Honestly Im glad that it wasnt real because it was filmed in San Diego which is one of my favorite cities. If I couldnt go back to San Diego because of some crazy ass invisible entity screwing up peoples' lives, I'd be depressed... lol

I watched this the other night and I was actually bricking it in the lead up to watching it, lol.
It's not a bad movie. A lot of it is quite boring and the guy in it is such a tool. But it did have some REALLY creepy bits. I'm glad I now know, after reading this thread, they weren't selling it as a 'real' movie. I might actually watch it again with this in mind, I think it'll change the way I feel about, in a good way, I hope.
I was expecting it to be make me too scared to go to bed alone, but it didn't actually linger with me too long.
I think I still prefer the Blair Witch though ;)
Aren't there already plans to make a PA sequel?
And hello everyone, it's been ages since I've been on here :)
