Could you find a BIGGER picture of Janet Jackson please.. i'd like to see her PORES in the next one. ;)

I am excited for Alicia Keys/Jay Z, Lady Gaga and Beyonce! Whoo Hoo!

Let's hope Janet does well. She is a performer and she won't be singing her own music so that will be good haha.

i didnt realize it would come out that way, so i found something else for janet's picture.

meanwhile, I hope Lady Gaga mops the FLOOR w/ Beyonce when it comes to winning awards. I love Lady Gaga's avant garde presentation and she's had single after single from her album, hardly ANY of it is "filler". Her interviews really DO remind me of early 80's madonna, when anything was liable to come out of her mouth. I especially liked her crack about bedding the Jonas Brothers in a threesome LOL. those little boys wouldnt know what to do with her I'm sure.

Im very interested to see Janet's tribute to Michael, what it will include, how long will it be.

Russell Brand, while not my favorite, DOES bring that irreverant british humour to the awards which have gotten stale and became self aware of their truly "unexpected moment" factor too late in in its run.

Im gonna be honest in my whole life (21 years lol) i have never actually watched the MTV VMA. I watch the MTV movie awards but never the VMAs. Is it worth me watching at all?

Lizzie, wow...really??

well, unfortuately the VMAs are not NEARLY as relevant as tthey were in the 80's and on thru the 90s. The last TRULY "shocking" VMA show that I can recall is 2003 when Madonna reprised her "Like A Virgin" performance that she opened the first VMAs (in 1983) with, Britney and Christina backed her up and she shocked the world when she kissed both girls on stage. It was the kiss talked about around the globe lol! since then, the show has been plagued with over wrought sets, bad locations and hosts and a general lack of talent represented among the nominees and winners.

I would recommend TONIGHT'S show for you...but sadly y ou've missed some of the best VMAs in years long past.

Um... probably not LOL. you can always catch the true highlights of show the next day or something. Anything scandalous is sure to be video clipped repetedly.

On the other hand, if you've nothing ELSE to watch, it can be mildly entertaining. They pass out awards for music videos, so you know it'll follow awards shows standards. If you like awards shows in general you might enjoy it... on the plus side, MTV affairs are always more interesting than other awards shows, because they're WAY less formal and people will wear, say, and do some weird shit LOL because it's not a faux pas to act something other than regal at ANY event with MTV's name on it. ;)

well it starts 'live' in like an hour and a half in the USA, if that helps any.

There's a behind the scenes stream on MTV's website right now, i don't know if they'll change that to live stream once the show starts or not.

I dont normally watch the VMA's just because i'm kinda out of touch with the music world now in days since i dont listen to the radio like I used to when I had to drive to work and back, but due to the twilight clips i'll probley either record this or watch it :)

okay so MTV??? THEY GOT IT RIGHT with this MTV Tribute! MADONNA OPENED THE SHOW, JANET TOOK THE STAGE! frickin AWESOME!

LOTS of big names in the house tonight and um....WOW, Kanye West just let Taylor Swift HAVE IT!

Still...I DIDNT think Taylor fuckin Swift should have beaten Lady Gaga, Beyonce OR Pink for "Best Female Video"...no way...of course MY vote was for Lady Gaga but NONE of those three should have lost to Taylor Swift.

What Kanye West did was completely disrespectful. Regardless if anyone thinks Taylor deserved that award or not, he should NOT have gotten up on stage and ruined her acceptence speech like that. Who the fuck DOES THAT? She's a country singer who has crossed the musical bounderies into the mainstream pop world. I don't think in all the years that i've watched the VMA's I remember a country singer winning anything. So for him to ruin that moment for her was inexcusable. He's a tactless dickhead who needs to be banned from all award shows.

On the flip side, I've never been a Beyonce fan, but that girl has some major class. Giving the stage over to Taylor when she won her award so she can give the speech Kanye ruined was incredibly generous and sweet of her. I really give her credit for that. And I'm actually starting to like her now lol.

Aside from that, I think my favorite performance of the evening was Janet's tribute. She KILLED it. And of course, I LOVED the New Moon trailer!! So exciting!! :D lol Pretty good award show overall. And I really really enjoyed Madonna's tribute to Michael. I thought that was very fitting and very well done on Madonna's part. Overall, the show was pretty good, aside from that asshole Kanye West.

I was thrilled Taylor won she is one of my absolutely favorite artists. I think it was rude and childish of Kanye to do what he did during her acceptance speech no one should have that done to them. She won fair and square and should have had her time in the spotlight. That royally pissed me off and I wanted seriously to turn off the t.v and walk away. People have no respect. She worked hard and did a wonderful job and she is an amazing artist. In fact as soon as i seen the Twilight trailer I turned it off as that was really the only thing i wanted to see, but I'm glad I seen Taylor win.

I understand where kanye was coming from in that Taylor simply didn;t deserve to win, but after reflection, I hate that Kanye did it like that.

His display took way from the fact that she should have finished no better than 4th in that category and that the format to decide who gets what is HORRIBLY flawed.

Jill Monroe

Do I think she deserved the award...OVER Lady Gaga, Pink or even Beyonce? NO but that's just my opinion.

im sure we ALL have felt some artist being another artist we would have preferred to win an award at some point. that's a given with these kind of shows, but you dont do what he did...not like that. He couldve said it on HIS blog, HIS TWITTER, whatever... but a grown ass man should not have gotten up on that stage and humiliated that little girl like that. It was cruel and tacky.

Kanye is a childish man and he prooves it time and again. I think he SHOULD be banned from all award shows. His ego enters the room five minutes BEFORE he does and the irony is that he HARDLY wins any of the awards he thinks he's entitled to. Like i said last night (and i guess only those of a certain age would understand the comparison) he's like the black male version of Debra Winger. She was a MEGA TALENTED actress in the 80's & 90's (got her start as "Wonder Girl" on the Wonder Woman tv series) she won critical acclaim across the board, was nominated for many TOP SHELF awards including golden globe & oscar but she was a combative BITCH with EVERYONE. Soon she earned a bad rep in hollywood and despite her true talent, no one would work with her. That's Kanye NOW. he's getting to that point slowly but surely.

On the flip side, like Sam...I'm so NOT a Beyonce fan, BUT what she did for Taylor (after winning one of the most coveted awards of the show no less) was so kind and gracious. That was a TRUE class act on her part.

The thing is, it doesn't matter who OTHER people think SHOULD have won. The votes were tallied and Taylor won, period. Whether people believe she should have or not isn't the point. And it's not up to Kanye West to jump up on stage during her acceptence speech and tell the whole world that Beyonce deserved the award over her. She's 19 freakin' years old. She's from a country music background which OBVIOUSLY isn't what MTV is all about [well, used to be about before it turned into a reality tv station ], so for her to win a VMA is a big deal for her and her fans.

Like Farrah said, if he really wanted to voice his opinion on who he thinks should have won that award, he could have done that on his own personal website, myspace, facebook, twitter, or just bitched about it after the fact to whoever would listen. But he humiliated another very successful and talented artist by jumping on stage in front of millions of people. It's not the Kanye West Video Music Awards. If he wants his own damn award show to tell people who he thinks should win, then make you own damn award show. Don't disrespect the other artist at an MTV event and do that shit. It's childish, rude, and inexcusable.

[yeah, i'm really pissed about this because I can't stand Kanye West to begin with, and while i'm not a HUGE Taylor Swift fan, I do respect her music, her fans, and how successful she is in the music industry. So I was just appauled by what I witnessed lastnight and need to vent. :D LOL. And i'm done!]

with these award shows, there's ALWAYS going to be personal opinion about who should/shouldnt or who is more deserving of which award. they count on that for continued debate and discussion about the show. it matters MORE on some award shows (people's choice - for example) than others.

Even though I'm NO fan of country music or Taylor Swift, she seems like a sweet young girl. Regardless of what I (or anyone ELSE) thinks about her music, she DIDNT deserve that. No one does...except Rob Zombie someone should have interrupted his demented ass ages ago, but i digress:D LOL! :p

Kanye's half assed apology (online no less) does NOT substitute the necessity for a PERSONAL apology whether it was in writing but preferrably in person. apparently being a successfull artist did nothing for his sense of ettiquite. He obviously didnt think about the fact that this is somebody's child and how would HE have felt had it been HIS 19 year old daughter on the stage.

Its just pathetic. HOWEVER, speaking strictly on the issue of the VMAs and their "shock" moments, I would say that this unfortunate incident definately brought the VMAs back to the spotlight in a way they havent been since 2003. Its just a shame that a young girl had to be humiliated for that to happen.

And what is Kanye's problem with women? WHITE women at that? He attacked Britney Spears, Gretchen Wilson and now Taylor Swift!

Apparently Kanye West has been taking his cues on manners from the Republicans. After he got up on stage, I was half shocked that he didn't scream "You lie!" at her.

So, i'm just going to ignore the whole Kanye thing.

I thought that this was a really well put together show this year. Far better than many i've seen in past years, and I think it was because there were some really big names attached this year. The performances were all really good, especially Lady Gaga. The things she is able to get away with! I loved her fucking Red Coccoon Dress and how when she won for best new artist she said:

"This is for God. And the Gays!"

I was pleasantly surprised with Pink's performance, it was interesting and new, and I really like the song "Sober" so it sat well with me.

Beyonce's performance was good, but honestly, I did expect better. I know she probaby had to sing Single Ladies because pretty much that was the only song she was nominated for but she could have switched it up and went into at least "Diva" or continued on with "Sweet Dreams" like she was going in the beginning, but the dance is always fun to watch.

The Michael Jackson Tribute.. Madonna spoke very well and it was interesting to get into her own personal take/relationship with him. The performance was fun, but I really.. just expected better. This was such a hyped up performance and Janet Jackson was on screen for a total of 30 seconds. The dancers were great, I was just expecting something.. "bigger" ? I don't know.

I loved Taylor's performance as well, it was cute and it was definitely Taylor Swift.

Muse = Next. Just never been my kind of music. I had an ex who was ALL into them and to be honest, Stephenie Meyer and him can HAVE them! Yuck!

I kind of wanted to see Kings of Leon win for best rock video, I think Greenday just got it because... they are Greenday. They've totally sold out and now everyone just loves them and it makes me crazy.

Other than that! Great Show!

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/09/14/obama-kanye-is-a-jackass_n_286623.html

During a CNBC interview on Monday, President Obama called hip-hop artist Kanye West a "jackass" over his behavior at the MTV Video Music Awards. (Watch video of Kanye at the VMAs here.)

Obama's colorful remark was actually made in an off-the-record portion of the interview that was tweeted -- and then deleted -- by ABC News reporter Terry Moran.

"Pres. Obama just called Kanye West a 'jackass' for his outburst at VMAs when Taylor Swift won. Now THAT'S presidential," Moran wrote.

Politico's Michael Calderone has ABC's statement apologizing for Moran's journalistic breach.

PRESIDENT OBAMA DOESN'T LIKE KANYE PEOPLE!!!!

its funny but also a little sad Kanye could be a great musician but his own ego and stupidity is holding people back from taking him serious. Also on a lighter note this is after that "gay fish" episode of South Park supposedly inspired him to not take himself as seriously and relax the ego it makes him look even more like an ass . . . . and yeah it is funny :hehe2:

I've posted this same thing on Buffy Boards but i figured i'd copy and paste it over here too...

As i've said already i'm a huge country fan and so i'm signed up to recieve the CMT Newsletter and I just got one in my inbox today about this whole thing... I mean its not hugely interesting but Taylor Swift made an apperance Tuesday on ABC's The View and i thought i'd post a few things from the article.

Swift told the hosts of The View that she still hadn't been contacted by West in the aftermath of his outburst on the awards show, but she said she would be willing to speak to him. "Sure. I mean, he has not personally reached out or anything, but if he wanted to just say hi," she said.

West phoned her shortly after the Tuesday episode of The View aired.

"Kanye did call me, and he was very sincere in his apology, and I accepted that apology," she told ABC News Radio.

The article also has her saying this

Recalling her reaction when she realized she had won the award, Swift said, "My overall thought process went something like, 'Wow, I can't believe I won. This is awesome. Don't trip and fall. I'm going to get to thank the fans. This is so cool. Oh, Kanye West is here. Cool haircut. What are you doing there?" And then, 'Ouch!' And then, 'I guess I'm not gonna get to thank the fans.'"

Swift said she didn't have time to mentally process the situation at the time.

"I'm not going to say that I wasn't rattled by it, but I had to perform live five minutes later, so I had to get myself back to the place where I could perform," she said.

If you want to read the entire thing Here's the link

I totally agree with Kings of Leon getting robbed, Brandon. I wanted either them or Paramore to win best rock. Green Day is just...blah for me.

Loved Pinks performance....and honestly, I just didn't get Lady Gaga's. I mean, I saw the Paparazzi video so I know what the overall premise of the performance was supposed to be about, but it was still just weird to me. I wish she had preformed LoveGame. :(

As for Kanye West, I saw his interview on Jay Leno and . I'm so over him.

its like i said the night it happened in the shoutbox, that fool inadvertently did her a FAVOR! she's got the #1 album on itunes right now, she was the top search on google for like 2 days in a row and i'm like "REALLY!?"

I've BEEN over HIM...but I never thought much of HER either. Just goes to show how our society works in this age of technology.

MTV benefited as well, this years VMAs was even the topic of discussion at the whitehouse when President Obama called him a jackass! LOL!

Well Also.. She was the best selling artist of 2008. She's doing something right. Her album is being re-released with all this dvd bonus disc concert footage and such, and I think she was the best selling artist of 2009 for the first half.. her new album Fearless has sold 10 million copies and there is HUGE speculation that she is going to be nominated for Album of the Year at the next grammy's, the girl has got it going on... but I have to say, to her credit, she was selling plenty of albums and songs BEFORE Kanye's stupid ass.

Plus her itunes song downloads reach like 19.5 million or something I think.
