Say her name! PATTI! PATTI!

I love Patti Labelle! My parents were fans of her's back in the days when she lead the group "Labelle". THEY could show Destiny's Child something about how to sing. One of the earliest memories I have of Patti is listening to my father play an LP featuring Laura Nyro with Labelle doing a song together.

The originator of "Lady Marmalade" (get out of the way Christina Aguilera, your version ios no match) , Patti has gone strong through the 70's, 80's and even pulled a "Madonna" and reinvented her sound in the 90's working with producers like Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and working along side such artists as Big Daddy Kane, SWV, Outkast and her longtime friend Cyndi Lauper.

I'm VERY excited to here that Patti and the rest of Labelle (Sarah Dash and Nona Hendrix) are reuniting for a tour and a studio album (rumoured to be produced by Lenny Kravitz among others)

Patti is also talented small screen actress, with a memorable reoccurring role as "Dwayne Wayne"'s mother on "A Different World", as well as her own sitcom "Out all Night" (which featured a then, up and coming Vivica A Fox.)

are there any other Patti fans? what are some of your favorite songs of her's?

Mine include: Lady Marmalade, Get you somebody new, On my own, New Attitude, If you only knew, Feels like another one, When you talk about love.

When you think of Patti songs, never forget "You are my friend". That song is SOOOO beautiful.

I also liked "Right Kind Of Lover" in addition to your list.

In fact, I am a HUGE fan. Patti LaBelle is also a sorority sister of mine.

I know alot of members on SG may not be into Patti, but th is woman is awesome. I was just recently reminded of how powerfull her voice was when the R&B station down here played a remix of "Feels like another one" and i was like...OMG, I havent heard this since i was in 8th grade (1991), had me bouncing in my car and everything lol!

Patti needs to come back and show these silly girls like Ashanti how to do REAL R&B music.

Hey Farrah, look up Patti's revision of Stir It Up with Joss Stone. I played it at a party I did this weekend and it was a BIG hit.
