Ok, I'm surprised that they aren't gonna do the "hob goblin" story line.... especially since they kinda set it up in the last movie.... Perhaps they will continue to set up that story line and just continue to build the drama.... eh, who knows:stupid:

Thomas Haden Church, who was nominated for an Oscar for best supporting actor (http://www.darkhorizons.com/news05/050322k.php#) in "Sideways," has been cast as Spidey's new archenemy in the next chapter of the "Spider-Man" franchise reports Reuters.
Director (http://www.darkhorizons.com/news05/050322k.php#) Sam Raimi made the announcement Monday along with producers Laura Ziskin and Marvel Studios' Avi Arad. Who that villain is exactly remains a close secret for now.
"In addition to the ongoing relationship between Peter Parker and M.J., these films (http://www.darkhorizons.com/news05/050322k.php#) are driven by the great actors who have brought our villains to life," Raimi said to the press. "Thomas Haden Church will be a fantastic and challenging new nemesis, and we all look forward to working with him."

Author: Garth Franklin
IGN FilmForce (http://filmforce.ign.com/x-men/articles/598/598967p1.html?fromint=1) has learned that Dark Phoenix is indeed the big villain in X3. Not the Sentinels, Mr. Sinister, Dr. Bolivar Trask, or the Hellfire Club. We were cautioned, however, that it still doesn't make her the main story. So far this is in line with what Avi Arad has said.
Also in regards to "X3", Comics Continuum (http://www.comicscontinuum.com/stories/0503/28/index.htm) spoke with Halle Berry who seems more open about returning to play Storm - "I have not read the script. All I asked is that if I come back Storm needs MORE TO DO. So, if they have in fact written her closer to the comic book (http://www.darkhorizons.com/news05/050329c.php#), then I'm in ...if not then I'm out. I hope I'm in though. I love Storm and really want to be a part of the last film (http://www.darkhorizons.com/news05/050329c.php#)" said the Oscar-winning actress (http://www.darkhorizons.com/news05/050329c.php#) during an online chat.
Finally, AICN (http://www.aintitcool.com/display.cgi?id=19747) reports that multiple spies at Sony have confirmed that Thomas Hayden Church will indeed be playing the villain The Sandman. There's apparently a ton of Sandman conceptual art all over the Spidey-offices. The character was a prison escapee hiding out at an atomic testing facility when a explosion goes off. His molecules fuse with sand, giving him essentially shape shifting ability along with various other skills.
Thanks to 'Doug'.

Spider-Man 3's Thomas Haden Church Finally Speaks
Source: Comics2film.com (http://www.comics2film.com/FanFrame.php?f_id=12416) , 'TheFilmProphet'
April 5, 2005
Future Spider-Man (http://www.superherohype.com/news/spider-mannews.php?id=2808#) baddie Thomas Haden Church (http://www.superherohype.com/news/spider-mannews.php?id=2808#) spoke recently with the Houston Chronicle about becoming the latest Spidey villain.
"I like to keep my private stuff pretty vague," said Church, who owns up to being single, having a girlfriend and having a daughter, whose name he won't divulge. He will say he owns a home in Dallas that he's leased out, and he prefers beer to wine.
Which beer? He won't say, only that "given my physical training for
Spider-Man, they only want me to drink light beer."
Church has been in Los Angeles lately for wardrobe fittings and "being
in the mud all day. They did plaster casts of my body for prosthetics.
They also wanted to cut my hair to get an idea for (computer) animators (to determine) what my look will be."
He's also mum on whom he'll play when director Sam Raimi starts shooting near year's end. Rumors swirl that Church will be Venom, a classic villain from Spidey comics, or perhaps a new baddie.
He's been training at a gym in Kerrville, and he may make two more movies (http://www.superherohype.com/news/spider-mannews.php?id=2808#) before Spider-Man 3 starts to roll. He also just did voice work for an animated Charlotte's Web with Julia Roberts and Jennifer (Elektra & Alias) Garner. But Spider-Man 3 is "my biggest commitment so far in budgetary terms. It's pretty huge."
Though the intimate, offbeat Sideways is the opposite of an action film, Church said its writer-director, Alexander Payne, told him his favorite film (http://www.superherohype.com/news/spider-mannews.php?id=2808#) of last year was Spider-Man 2 (http://www.superherohype.com/news/spider-mannews.php?id=2808#). Church feels Alfredolina, who played villain Doc Ock, was robbed of an Oscar nod.

James Cromwell Joins Spider-Man 3
Source: The Hollywood Reporter (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/)
February 6, 2006
James Cromwell has joined the cast of Columbia Pictures' Spider-Man 3 (http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=4663) as Captain Stacy, the father of Bryce Dallas Howard's (http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=13060#) character, Gwen.
In the "Amazing Spider-Man (http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=13060#)" comic books (http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=13060#), Stacy dies a heroic death as he saves a child during a battle between Spider-Man (http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=13060#) and another supervillain. Peter Parker love interest Gwen Stacy (Howard) ends up blaming Spider-Man for her father's death.
Cromwell joins returning cast members Tobey Maguire (http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=13060#), Kirsten Dunst and James Franco as well as Topher Grace, Thomas Haden Church and Theresa Russell. Sam Raimi is directing.
Cromwell is best known for starring in the "Babe" movies, the first of which earned him an Oscar nomination for best supporting actor, and as a villain in L.A. Confidential. His recent role on Six Feet Under earned him an Emmy mention in 2003.

From aintitcool...
Hey folks, Harry here - Seems that according to the following person, Topher is VENOM and will be in a very complicated outfit... But here's the thing just about all of this is countered by another report I received that wound up over at COMING SOON (http://countingdown.com/movies/2756481/board?viewpost=3824820) that swears up and down Topher is playing ELECTRO - and that the black costume Symbiote outfit is Peter's only in this film, but we get hints of something more coming. I love battling rumors, they're so much fun. Sony, Raimi and Avi are having a blast throwing out conflicting tales and I think placing these things around the web to confuse and tantalize us fans. Enjoy the latest round of gossip...
Marcus Howard Blog (http://marcushoward.blogspot.com/)
3) It is impossible for spider-man and venom (both wearing the symbiote's) to go head to head?
I did not say that they were both symbiotes, i said that each character would be wearing the costume that was developed for them, i.e both wearing black in this sequence, which does not mean to say that Tobey's costume is a symbiote. I have said enough.
Marcus here, i got like a million e-mails and this site only went up today and the moment i mentioned Spider-man 3 i had to block the comments coming in since their were so many. So for the sake of it i thought i might just drop you little tid bits involving Mr Grace, since im working for him as Costume Assistance, which is a job that does not involve me communicating with him believe it or not. Im not allowed to say too much, but i doubt this would do any harm if i was to tell you about my job in more detail and about the 'Venom' costume which james is working on.
We are working on tobey's black 'symbiote' costume, which is refered to as 'SYMBIOTE#01' because the second version will be worn by Mr Grace. The second version is more advance and we are considering to use motion capture technology, i believe that this would accompany the CGI that was done in the first spider-man movie as i have been told. However you should not expect Venom to be wearing a costume as such because their isn't any, we are considering that he would be wearing a green suit, so that with the CG the 'SYMBIOTE#02' design can be overlayed on him. Sony has spent billions apparently over the years on the whole franchise, but with new developing technology such as pixar's renderman, the job is getting easily done. The fight scenes between tobey and mr grace are also something which we (well them) are looking at, the script is complete and their will be a huge fight which involves tobey getting his portion of the suit (SYMBIOTE#01) completely weakened by the more stronger suit worn by mr grace (SYMBIOTE #02).
Their are about 60 more people working as costume assistance's and ideas are being contributed in all the time, as they are also improving, however these ideas do not effect the script as thats carved in stone, but they only improve it visually. I've said enough, so just dont start passing this info around because the last thing i want is to be thrown out of something big. And remember this could all change. That's all i could tell you...right now but keep checking back for the plastic cast results from mr grace.

This movie is getting more hype than ever ever before it seems. I'd like to see Venom in this film more so than Sandman. But maybe they will have two villians instead of one?
I'd love to see Black Cat in the next film if they make one, she was a fun character who eventually reformed. :raspberry I enjoyed Venom and Carnage the best for villians.

Agreed. Black Cat better be in the next one...I was so dispointed when she didn't show up in the first two. They better get a good actress for her, too. Because if they mess up her like they did Storm I'll going to go bazerk on their asses:p ...I despise Marvel movies. Perhaps Spiderman three will change my mind?

Wasn't Eddie Brock a pretty buff guy? Then where is the logic in getting the quirky guy from the 70's Show to play him. He's a bit...weedy.But I admit the poster is cool.
Anyway I'm interested in how they're gonna have Sandman,Venom and apparently Green (maybe Hob) Goblin in one film. They Goblin bit is what's worrying me.I mean how can they make it fresh.
Also the picture of Spiderman with the symbiote suit is bugging me-I hope it looks different in the film i.e. like it should and not just his own costume painted black.
Crap-Editing this post because that's the first full body shot I've seen of the symbiote suit. The only other shots made it look like how I've described above.Ok I'm much more happy with that :D

Yeah, Eddie Brock was supposed to be pretty big as a guy, but Venom still looks pretty sweet, and if he's the same sort of build as Spider-Man (Grace actually auditioned for the part, and was tipped to get it at one point), then we might get a good visual Spider/Anti-Spider thing going on, with Venom looking the part. After all, the real skill of the Spider-Man films has been keeping to the feel and style of the thing perfectly, even if one or two details are sacrificed for expediency's sake...unlike X-Men, which didn't keep the details, AND went for a more "real world" feel instead of sticking with the comic book roots.
That said, Church looks so like Flint Marko in the prelim pictures that it's almost untrue - they could not have cast a more perfect Sandman, at least from a visual point of view, and Church is certainly good acting material as well...

I've seen a cap of Church in the (in)famous green stripes shirt and his hair is even identical to Sandmans style.Nice job casting him.
But I'm still thinking that Eddie as a person should have some muscle on him, although I'm sure that Venom will look cool regardless of how the actor underneath looks.
Plus won't Venom be CGI?In that case I suppose they can beef up Venom-cos he is a big hulking black blob with sharp teeth :p
