What are your favorite musicals?

I'm a big fan of the broadway production of The Producers. I also enjoy the obligatory favorite, The Phantom of the Opera.

As far as film versions go, My Fair Lady is a favorite of mine, as is West Side Story.

Evita, the film version is my favorite musical ever...not just because of Madonna, but because you can never go wrong with Andrew Lloyd Weber.

You have a very unhealthy obsession with Madonna...

Just saying...

and making fun of my fandom of Madonna could be more than a little UNhealthy for YOU... I'm "just saying"

now do try to keep on topic, since you were the one who STARTED the thread.

For me, being a musical nut, I could make a very long list here. But I'll keep it short. ;] I thrive on RENT, Wicked, Phantom of the Opera, Jersey Boys, Legally Blonde(Broadway adaption), Moulin Rouge, Across the Universe, and a lot of Disney things. I only can't stand HSM--whoever compared that to Grease was seriously deranged. =P

I fell in love with Little Shop of Horrors [the 1986 film version with Ellen Greene & Rick Moranis] at age eleven. Years later, such greatness has never moved from it’s place on the top of my list of favorite musicals. Obsession would have been the most honest word to use when describing my feelings toward this film a while [as in years] back. I can truthfully say that I knew almost all of the words…not only to the songs, but to the movie. Eventually I managed to find a VHS tape at a mall store, but it’s long since worn out…plus, the VCR player died forever. I, as recently as this past weekend, played the soundtrack while lifting my mood to happiness and annoying my live-in relatives. Who cannot resist the beauty of a gigantic, singing, inappropriate, blood-thirsty plant?

The Rocky Horror Picture show is the closest to perfection as second favorites get. Through an awkward series of events, I also saw this musical as a pre-teen. Honestly, I’m not sure how this happened…but my mother had confused The Rocky Horror Picture Show with Peewee’s Big Adventure and had me watch this sexually themed journey of greatness. “I saw them both at midnight in a theater.” was her excuse.

I watched RENT for the second time ever last night, but cried for the first. It’s probably the most addictive musical movie that I’ve seen. Unlike those mentioned above, I can’t just pause it at random and expect to be able to wait until later to see the rest. It’s rare that I can watch a movie all the way through without stopping.

I think that Sweeny Todd is darkly hilarious and Hairspray [the “old” movie version] rocks. I’ve never seen a musical other than film adaptations…but I refuse to die without seeing at least one live.

I love musicals whether they are on Broadway or in theaters. My first musical that I ever saw was Cats and I loved it! It used to be the longest running musical ever. I thought a lot of the songs were touching and the plot was good, plus the costumes were unique.

I had the pleasure of seeing Phantom of the Opera last year with my mother and we both loved it! The stage and the props along with the costumes were magnificent. We’re going to see it again on the 26th of May. I got my Mom third row center orchestra as a Mother’s Day gift so we’re looking forward to it again. I also LOVED the movie as well, I thought they did an exceptional job as far as brining the play to the big screen.

I’ve never seen Grease but I have seen the movie. Which happened to be on last night and I couldn’t help but watch it again lol. I would like to go see it on Broadway sometime.

I do like Grease, bought it a few months back (eventually) and I left off "seven brides for seven brothers" on the basis that i don't own it. But I do like it.

Anyone seen, and this don't count technically... the Jerry Springer Opera?
