Best Historical Anime

[Flashforward]

A lot of animes are rooted in Japanese history. I just finished watching Samurai Deep Kyo, and I was disappointed. I thought that it might be a great historical drama like Rurouni Kenshin, but sadly, it wasn't. Still, there are a bunch of others that try to be historically accurate, or which are situated in the past. What are your favorites?

While i do find it interesting if an anime is rooting in historical events its just as good if it isn't completely accurate to events
