Okay, I saw this on another board (of which i inexplicably decided to join ...mainly to argue in this particular thread)
here was the initial post:
Ok people this is how it goes down.
We're talking the Jean Grey from Morrisons run. The version of her which held the latent Phoenix Force, when Jean had the ability to use her telekinesis to break matter down on the molecular level. The Jean Grey that was able to physically touch an object, pick up the psychic residue from that object and see a picture of the past.
We're talking about the WWH version of the green goliath. The super powered version of the Hulk.
I pick Jean Grey as the ultimate winner of this battle of the sexes. On a side note: Jean Grey is the one character that would make any battle the Xmen have against other super teams such as the Avengers moot. No one wants to tangle with her not even Thor. The X-writers actually dumbed down her powers in the past and Morrison took Jean to a different stratosphere
and here was MY reaction (and I'm NOT EVEN a "big fan" of the Hulk)

I saw that before. Madelynne Pryor already had that power, first in Mutant X and later in mainstream Marvel before she disappeared again....nothing new for me and Maddie was always more fun for me to read than Jean.

Longshot was doing this during his run with the Uncanny X_men...again nothing new for me.

the planet wrecker versus the most pointless red head ever....and this is BAD considering how i ALWAYS lobby for women in comics.

youve got to be kidding me? she's not scarey, she's not intimidating...
Jean "i wasnt really Phoenix until i became Phoenix IV and all of my clones (and their offspring) and my alternate children are more exciting than i am" Grey? a formidable force that even Thor would fear? I NEVER saw that ANYWHERE and i've been reading the X-men AND the Avengers for over 20 years. I remember when Jean was brought back during the dreaded "retcon of 1986" in Xfactor..and from that time on...not once had i ever seen her be that highly regarded. Even in Morrison's run...the only thing he COULD do to make anyone take her seriously (when for years we had BETTER telepaths such as Psylocke and White Queen before THEY were dumbed down to make JEAN look stronger than she ever was) was fall back on the "Phoenix" aspect and by then it was tired. Phoenix II was claremonts child, Phoenix III was the perfect nod to that child and Jean herself became Phoenix IV and got slapped down by Magneto/Xorn and boom...she's dead..AGAIN.
I'm sorry, but ive NEVER seen Jean as a "force to be reckoned" with...all of her peers (Inviisble Woman , Wasp, even Scarlet Witch) progressed through the years since their debuts in the 60's and Jean remained weak and ineffective. She turned out NOT to be Phoenix II, Madelynne Pyror kicked her ass TWICE, her own "Daughter" weilded the power of the Phoenix better than she did.
but for the sake of discussion? i will stomach the use of Jean as one of the combatants here and say that IF she was competent enough to handle this....she could try manifesting a telekinetic bubble INSIDE of Hulk's brain the way same way Psylocke nearly killed the Shadow King/Dark Xavier with her TK. IF she were presented as a capable, competent fighter, she could, use her TK to AUGMENT her physical blows the way Madelynne did to SHATTER Trevor Fitzroy's supposedly "indestructable" armor...but even then, she wouldnt be strong enough to do any damage to the Hulk. perhaps STOP his vital organs from funcitoning with her TK but she's never even had the strength of will to "control" Wolverine via telepathy or telekinesis so i doubt she could do TOO much damage to a raw physical force like the HULK head on. She'd have to use the environment or she'd have to get VERY creative with precise attacks to vulnerable aspects of the Hulk's body such as his brain, his vital organs etc.
the only way she'd mop the floor with him is if she "had been" Phoenix II or as current continuity stands, had been allowed to follow manifest her powers as Phoenix IV (morrison) and we can only hope she wouldnt get slapped down as easily Magento/Xorn did her LOL!
