The Great Escape has been a little too silent for my taste lately so i thought i spark a little talk. Within the last 5years what is your favorite new character(s) and why do you like them?? Mine personally: Citizen Steel at DC. I love this guy so far, hes down to earth and every moment with him and his little cousins is just gold. At first he was down and out and had no interest in being a superhero but then his family needed him and he just grew into the role. At Marvel: Trauma of the The Initiative. His powers are simply frightening (ironically) he becomes whatever your worst fear is. When Henry Gyrich has his hands on him all he sees is a weapon but after training with Dani Moonstar he begins using his powers to help people face their fears maybe even become a metahuman superpsychiatrist.
So if you have someone that needs a little more love sound off.

let's see....well there was Wind Dancer, but she's depowered and looks like a broke ass spider-man reject character with that ridiculous outfit she now wears.
Dust- i didnt like her at FIRST, but she's really prooved herself to be a valuable asset to the X-men. she's devoted, powerfull and she was so fantastic to watch in the New X-men Quest for Magik storyline. She's also unique in that she's one of the only positive portrayal of a muslim character in Marvel. She's with the cast of Young X-men now.
most of my other favorites are characters that RETURNED, such as Ms. Marvel who has been back since Avengers vol III launched (as Warbird) BUT she really didnt return to glory until Disassemble/House of M and now she's just fabulous. Then there's Spider Woman, Dazzler and Psylocke who have all "returned".
oh and among the NEW crop of characters, i also forgot to mention the Stepford Cukoos. Three in One has really come a long way and they are still intriguing. they've played small yet pivotal roles in many storylines of the X-men. i could do WITHOUT the (predictable) parentage of Emma Frost. Like she's EVER been "mother material" LOL.

Well...from the NEW STOCK of Marvel Heroes/Villains and whatnot I would have to say Gabriel Vargas, Death's Head 3.0, Krosakis, The New Scorpion, and X-23. But I am not just choosing them because they are all connected in one way or another to Captain Universe...well actually that is the case because anyone who is connected to Captain Universe becomes instaneously cool...unless they are Pro-Registration then they will still suck even if they had the honor of meeting or becoming Captain Universe (Is Carmilla "The Scorpion" Black Pro-Registration? If so...she is off the Favorites list.)
As for characters not related to Captain Universe...I'd have to say The Runaways (except Xavin...Skrull bastard), The Young Avengers (Iron Lad needed a better costume...but of course he is Kang now so it doesn't matter), and Noh-Varr (I know he is a "new" character from over eight years ago but he still kicks major ass.)

you liked Vargas? why, because he killed Psylocke? I was SO hoping that Rogue would kill him, but she decided to take the "high road"
Speaking of the Runaways (which i largely ignored) i read recently that Julie Power aka "Lightspeed" appeared or will appear in that comic? She's supposed to be in California trying to become an actress. I used to read Power Pack years ago (and no i'm not ashamed to admit it) so i was just wondering about that.
I can honestly say that not many of the "new" folks did much for me, especially considering how most of them have faded away or were depowered after house of m.

Sacrilege, Runaways is one of my favorite books and a treat when it actually comes out. How can i forget the young avengers they were for a Teen Titans rip off surprisingly great to read about.
Last time i saw Julie was in the "Loners" miniseries.
The New Scorpion, and X-23 are awesome too. The simple fact that i like x-23 considering the amount of hate i have for wolverine is an amazing feat.
Oh and Gabriel Vargas is Captain Universe not the Vargas you're thinking of. different characters.

I forgot about X-23, yes, she's a GREAT character. Alot of people on other comic boards hate her, but i think thats because she's young, female and plenty capable of taking the "cant do any wrong" Wolverine to task. Did you see her in Messiah Complex? she let Lady Deathstrike HAVE IT! lol she was also damn good in New X-men's "Quest for Magik".

I like her a lot. I was actually glad when i heard she was making the jump from X men evolution to canon. The biggest complain i hear about her is "oh shes a derivative character so he SUX" Which is stupid cause alot of derivative characters are awesome once they get fleshed out like Blue Beetle, Bat Girl, The new Question, the Young Avengers. It was kind of nice she her get the you hurt the one i love so now you must die moment with Deathstrike.
BTW another new Character the new Blue Beetle - Jaime Reyes, after the death of Ted Kord with a bitter fan base he still manage to win over a large following.

I liked alot of the new kids on New Mutants which I guess now is the New X-Men. I really liked Laurie Collins until she was killed :( and I also liked... Hellion I believe. The Stepford Cuckoos really creeped me out alot but they are pretty cool. I REALLY like Sooraya (Dust) I thought her character was awesome as well as her power! LOVED it!

I think the entire cast from Academy X and it relaunch New X-men were complete GOLD all marvel had to do way keep them together and not screw up the dynamic the characters had going. Unfortunately Young X-men happened and that hope died. Anyone else had hopes for the X-23/Hellion romance they had going after the "Return of Magik" arc?

I HAVE to get my hands on this Quest for Magik storyline. I kind of lost touch reading it but after knowing Farrah for so long I have to pick it up again if ONLY for this storyline. Hellion is such a prick lol, I love it, and I hope X-23 and Hellion hook up! Sexy!

Hellion was nice to watch if only because he was everything JEAN was not as far as a Telekinetic goes. He belonged in the company of Rachel, Madelynne and Psylocke. Powerfull women, powerfull telekinetics. Hell Rachel would have been in interest choice of date for him. X-23 is a bore to me. She's definately Wolverine 2.0 and she kicks ass...but she's just a BORE to me.

You really hate Jean Grey eh Farrah LOL? You flay her at every opportunity!
Yeah X-23 is kind of boring..
I didn't see on your list the first time I looked but I liked Wind Dancer!
I loved how she used her powers, it was kind of refreshing!
Like how she uses the winds to hear conversations from far away. I thought that was pretty awesome
