I just want to dedicate a thread to one of my favorite superhero teams, The JSA. One of the (currently) largest teams in the entire DCU (about 25 regulars) with origins stretching to World War II. A team of Mystery Men came together to fight injustice and now with the rise of new heroes they have a new goal. To inspire and enrich the lives of a new generation of heroes. Under the pen of writer Geoff Johns this book has become one of the best DC is offering. With a highly original and wonderfully diverse cast of characters both new and old i find it a shame more people are not reading this. With current Chairwoman Karen Starr the Power Girl, The old guard Flash, Green Lantern, and Wildcat and wonderful new characters like Starman, Cyclone and Citizen Steel and way too many more to count there is someone for everyone to love and follow. My personal favorites are Mr. Terrific and Amazing Man as well as the married couple Liberty Belle and Hourman. If you want a great book about being a hero , honoring legacy and finding a place in the world you should pick this up. I promise you will not be disappointed

My only problem with the title is worry Geoff Might not be able to balance such a huge cast. its difficult and I'm not sure he has the skill for it. While Johns does introduce a great diverse new cast of characters he does like to have his favorites come in as the big heroes.

I think he can do it, otherwise he'd never have tried. Thing is, it's not all that hard. Focus on the handful of the time and cameo the rest in rotation. Levitz did it with the LoSH in the 80s and Giffen followed there. Manga such as Bleach and Naruto do the same thing.

Also, a number of the characters being new means he can make them work with little "page time". Others have been kept simple over the years and work well in this type of comic. I've long believed that the team title is best for super-hero characters as it lets you treat as a summer action film. Long on action, small on characterization. Also you get greater contrast for building the characters.

Oh, and don't forget, Johns has done great with the GLC and Sinestro Corps plus the big cross-over stuff, so I think he'll do fine here too. :heee:

She was and might still be. John Byrne sort of did that when he made Hyp into the retro GA WW. She automatically fit in to the vacancy that was at the time given over, in retro, to Miss America. But with all the recent changes, it may not be so, but I think it still is. Mind you, I seriously doubt she was just the secretary. :hehe2:

OOOOOOhhhhhhhhhhhhh, so you like her doing stuff like that to you? :hehe2:

Say, did you see John Byrne's Generations JSA? I kind of liked it, a continuing group with new members rotating in.

Yes i do and i say it all the time :p

Yes i did i remember reading that. It was kind of weird seeing them all grow up and move on and off the team but it was so cool. Just like i imagined the JSA to be training the Heroes of tomorrow, growing up and sort of graduating to big heroes in their own right.

I liked how it did that with characters as they came up. Bit of a twist on the present version.
