Miss Angelica Jones. She's been a member of several team rosters through the years. Worked with Spider Man and Ice man, been on TV and even appeared in some video games.

Her ultimate achievement thus far is being a founding member of the new warriors and a distinguished member of the avengers. however, recent announcements have indicated she will join the X-men! I think that's fitting considering she IS a mutant after all.

Firestar is not just another fire weilding mutant. she harnesses and controls MICROWAVE energy. She's vastly more powerfull outside of a planetary atmosphere but while on earth she has prooven to be able to disrupt the powers/attacks of telepaths such as Emma Frost (whose ass she totally thrashed and nearly KILLED several years ago) , she's lifted objects as big and as heavy as COLOSUSS and single handedly took down Whirlwind, a villain that has bested groups of Avengers at a time.

Firestar has the potential for global level destruction of her powers are fully unleashed but due to her fear of that and her already modest personality, she keeps them in check. Her progression from an easily manipulated girl (witness her time with the hellions under the White Queen's machinations) to a powerfull member of the Avengers and now her soon to be membership with the X-men makes her a character worth watching to me.

Firestar and Firebird (another avenger) are probably the most interesting "fire based" characters to come long since Human Torch...after all... there's not much variation you CAN have with fire wielding characters is there? Firestar and Firebird however do push the limits on that.

Anyone else like Firestar?

I do very much. The cooles thing if you want to realize how powerful she is was when the Sentinel Project was convinced to shut down due to the damage that battling mutants would cause. By the calculation of the AI, Firestar's death would cost millions of lives. If I find a pic of it, I will post it.

I liked her in the New Warriors. She held, I felt, a similar role as Black Canary or Wonder Woman have in the JLA and the Scarlet Witch and Wasp in the Avengers Plus Sue in the FF. The voice of reason and compassion while more then able to kick butt. Nothing but guys stinks for stories in my view. I always thought she was the one that everyone listened to if she said something and it wasn't because she the girl, but that she was the smart one or at the very least possessed the ability to look at something with what could be called a clarity.

Then there's the fact that she started off in the cartoon world and became "owned" by Marvel, after they woke up realized they had had handed a good if not great character to them.

She's strong but human.

I like her the few times i seen her. She really strikes me as one of those characters that can be more powerful than they seem especially under the pen of a good writer that knows her well.
