I saw this video on youtube:

I was kind of shocked by how fast and violent this catfight happened. Now as a cat owner, i KNOW how testy cats can be with one another and when you have a house cat (some breeds are more notorious for this than others) that spots a stray or other animal on its territory, agression and even violence can ensue.

BUT, notice that the owner of the cat who attacked the stray went so far as to touch the stray? could THAT have hastened the catfight? should she have stayed out of it completely? i also wonder what she would have done if her cat had been injured...would she have done something to stray? what if the stray had been injured? would she have taken it to the humane society?

i feel like her judgement was poor in this situation as one or both animals could have gotten hurt. what do you think?

First off....I wouldn't touch the stray cat. I'd be afraid it would attack my foot or something lol. Secondly, I wouldn't want my cat fighting with a stray simply for health purposes. Who knows if the stray has any diseases or anything. Third, although the giant grey cat leaping into the air and onto the stray was pretty funny, I think it was stupid of the person to intentionally [or unintentionally?] start a cat fight.. I'd pick my cat up and put him inside if I were in her position.

It seems that there were several cats there, at least two of her opwn and the stray. She did seem immature, but I can't think of a way to defuse that situation. If you bring one cat in, then waht of the other and the stray left alone? Touching the cat with her foot seemed as much as anything to be a way to shoo it maybe. But probably not smart.
