A Sneak Peek At The DUKES OF HAZZARD Trailer!!
Hi, everyone. "Moriarty" (Moriarty@aintitcool.com) here with some Rumblings From The Lab...
Got this in from a reader tonight:
Well Harry. I was fortunate to see a ruff cut of the upcoming Dukes of Hazzard Trailer. It was freaking awesome. I am part of an online Survey website and one of the surveys was about the upcoming movie. They showed the trailer and asked a bunch of questions. So here is a run down of the trail and even some pics I got from screen shots (they only showed it twice):
Voiceover: "The countdown has begun. To the movie event of the summer. And it can only be described with one word."
(On screen are numbers being counted down with black numbers with orange background. Like the Old General Lee font on the side of the car).
On screen: Yee Hah Voice screaming: "Yeeee Hahhh". Shot of the General Lee (the Dukes of Hazzard's Car) jumping over a ravine.

Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott turning around laughing.

Voiceover: "This summer the Dukes are back!" The car spins around and comes to a spot next to a cop car.
Knoxville to cop: "You all think you can catch me now?" He drops the handcuffs on the road and they speed off. Various scenes of the General Lee racing around, two cop cars crash.
Johnny Knoxville looks at Seann William Scott as says: "Oh Dear".
Voiceover: "And they're taking off"
Burt Reynolds: "Find the Dukes"
Johnny Knoxville shoots an arrow and a cabin explodes.
Jessica Simpson (as Daisy Duke): "You better be reading my name tag friend"
Customer: "I noticed your initials were Double D" (he laughs with his friend)
Simpson kicks him off his chair and stands over him with her foot on his throat, saying, "How about the special sir?"

Music plays. Right here it's a kinda rock country version of the TV theme.
The General Lee is being chased around, some explosions are seen. The car is surrounded by cops.
Cop: "Come on out with your hands up"
Seann William Scott: "I never get tired of hearing him say that"
On screen: Johnny Knoxville as Luke Duke.
(he gets thrown into a wall)
Knoxville and Scott both pretend to be Japanese doctors, and they are not convincing, claiming that they 'converted' to Japanese.
On screen: Seann William Scott as Bo Duke.
He is seen fighting in a bar. The Dukes open the door on scantly clad women at college, who asks if they are students. Knoxville wants to know if they have an application.
They are introduced to a girl from Australia. Bo Duke tries to make an Australian joke that doesn't go over well.
On screen: Jessica Simpson as Daisy Duke.

She is seen in a bikini. She tries to seduce a deputy to get information about Boss Hogg (played by Burt Reynolds). He looks at the camera, smiles, and a voiceover says: "I'm gonna get fired!"
On screen: Burt Reynolds as Boss Hogg.

Boss Hogg is standing by a jail cell and is challenged by an inmate. He pays $100 for someone to knock him out (which he does). As Reynolds leaves, another inmate says to him: "Don't you know you're not supposed to wear white after Labor Day!"
http://www.aintitcool.com/images/doh/doh6.jpg
On screen: And Willie Nelson as Uncle Jesse.
Jesse: "I think you have some of the finest muffins around"
Woman: "Well I'll just have to warm some up for you"
Daisy: "Well could you just wait till I leave?"

On screen: The Dukes of Hazzard.
Music plays, the car is flying through the air and comes crashing down on the highway. On the fender it says: This June
Luke is in bed with two women, who ask where Bo is. He says he invited him but he had other plans. He then drops the plate and laughs.
I think this will kick ass... but I hate Simpson. she did surprises me in this. Anyway... I included some screen shots... hope you like.
*They call me Dr. Worm*
I talked with someone Sunday night who had just seen a very rough cut of the film, and they were less than enthusiastic about it. Most of their issues came down to casting, and in particular, they seemed to intensely dislike Willie Nelson and Burt Reynolds. Nelson’s been in a lot of films, and I’d argue that he is a very good actor when used correctly. If you haven’t seen BARBAROSA or THIEF, you should. And Burt can do good work as long as he’s got a director who knows what to do with him.
Just before Christmas of last year, I had a long conversation with Jay Chandrasekhar about the movie. I’ll admit... I was surprised that he was going to direct the film. It seemed to be a very strange step for a guy whose first two films were ensemble comedies with his friends in Broken Lizard. But as we talked, Jay told me about his fondness for ‘70s car chase movies like SMOKEY & THE BANDIT, and in particular, how much he adores THE BLUES BROTHERS, which is maybe the greatest car chase comedy of all time. He talked about how he wanted to make a film like those films, something that used practical stunts and tons of them, something that he could have a lot of fun making. He and the Broken Lizard guys did several drafts of the script, and I hear that most of them appear in the film in some capacity, with Kevin Hefernan having the most prominent role.
Sometimes, people get all up in arms over how something compares to the original, but in a case like this, how worked up are you really going to get? It’s not like they’re goofing around with some sacred piece of western culture here. It’s DUKES OF HAZZARD. All I want from this film is entertainment, plain and simple. I hear the David Koechner scenes are awesome, but that shouldn’t be a surprise. Koechner steals most films he’s in. Check out WAKE UP RON BURGUNDY for more evidence of that. At any rate, we’ll all find out for ourselves later this summer.
