okay.....PLEASE tell me im not the ONLY one who has seen or enjoys this show?

omg the physical comedy, the PURE humour (meaning they didnt really rely on gross out gags) , and the fact that it endures today.

I can watch this show and laugh the troubles of the day away...and when im drugged out on my meds...it becomes even MORE funny! :D

this is also the show that launched "Mama's Family"!

Carrol Burnette rocks... my favorite character though has to "Momma", I loved the spin off to death but I can barely find it on anymore. It used to come on every day... I loved her attitude and caty comments.. heh

"You've got splinters in the windmills of your brain!"
"Well I bet the neighbors are just loving this..."

LOL

I loved "Eunice"(Carol) and "Mama"(Vicki Lawrence)........i loved the skit where Carol was dressed as Scarlett O'hara (in a dress complete with a curtain rod across the shoulder area!!!):hehe: and she wound up falling...TUMBLING down the long spiral stair case so dramatically.....and then after she got back up the stairs "clark gable" was like "frankly my dear i dont give a damn" and then he knocked her back down the stairs again LOL.

I also loved the "As the stomach turns" skit:D

See I was too young for Carol Burnett, but I was absolutely in Love with Mama's Family..

The only thing I remember about the CB Show was her Tarzan Yell that she did every single episode :)

Carol Burnett had a character on Mama's Family too, her name was "Eunice" (the character "Bubba" who came later was "Eunice's" son)

Mama was hillarious. i think i got some of my "rip them to shreds" style of insulting from her....because watching her growing up, i thought she was magic! lol:D

I've been watching my Carol Burnett show DVDs....since we basically got snowed in and i was hollering with laughter this morning.

there's one episode where they are at some high society dinner partry (set in the civil war era) ....and someone is killing off the guests in ridiculous ways and with each murder...the situation gets more and more ostentatious...and finally Carol's character gets a note to open the door...and she stupidly does..and there's this big giant cannon at the door...and she looks at the camer like "oh shit.." and the cannon goes "BOOM!" and blasts her in the FACE with a cannon balll...and you see her laying on the floor with this (fake looking) cannon ball embedded in her face and her hair all blown back. It was HILLARIOUS!

her humour was more physical, and sometimes corny (by today's standards) but its still classic fun. :)

Sadly I don't find funny what is considered funny by today's standards.... Nothing annoys me more than "stupid comedy". Comedy used to be an actual form of art but lately it seems that any person (even those with an IQ lower than 70) can just act like morons and be considered a comedian. Sure there was slapstick which was kinda like this but lets face it, it was not loud, obnoxious, or annoying like I find most comedy to be today ::(
