View Full Version : Fray
Soo this is a mini story that came out in 2001-2003
The setting is 200 years in the future, where 19 year old Melaka Fray is introduced, she has the powers of a Vampire slayer, but lacks the instincts and skills that are passed down from each generation of slayers.
I got my hands on this story awhile ago, i think it was really well written, anyone else here who has read this???
If so then post your thoughts of it here.

It's a great book. I'm a Joss fan, so obviously not objective. But, great dialogue, very good characterizations. Some funny parts, some bitter, tragic parts. I like the somewhat noirish, crime theme mixed in with the supernatural angle, and the Blade Runner setting. A satisfying tale that left tons of possibilities for new stories.
It's what got me into comics again as an adult.

Yeah I'm with goldenboy.. Huge Joss fan, everything he writes is kind of holy to me... Fray is great, first comic I ever read (except for when I was a kid etc.). It's really interesting, and very different from Buffy in some ways, which makes it even more interesting (when you're a Buffy fan).
Long time since I read it though, really have to re-read... mhm..

I thought it was really interesting and I liked that Fray was more of a badass and she was more of a take no prisoners girls as opposed to Buffy's level head and baited breath.
Her watcher was a Demon right? Demons were like all over the city if I remember, and doesn't she end up killing her Watcher? It's been awhile since I read that.

Fray was the first Btvs comic I was introduced to and it was enough to get me hooked. She reminded me of Faith only well far cooler.

That was Urkonn, he killed Fray's friend Loo too strengthen her resolve (she thought it were Vampires at first) and no he wasn't Frays watcher, her watcher lit himself ablaze.:igitt:
I don't think there were too many demons, but LOTS of Vampires, alot of the people had been mutated by the sun's radiation at that point.
Fray was alot different from Buffy, made her alot more interesting. I think that was mostly due too the fact that she hadn't recieved the instincts and knowlegde all the previous Slayers had.

This probably isn't news for Fray fans. But I'm excited. Spoilery spoilers ahead...
