This is serious
My Antivirus kept picking up that I had a virus on my computer.
I ran yahoo spyware and nothing.
Then I went to CNET.com and started reading about the problems they were having with Internet Explorer as a browser, how hackers were having a field day.
So what I did was download another spyware thing and found out that
I had some pervert who hacked into my computer through my modem and he was accessing pay porn sites!!! The pervert!!!!
So becareful of Internet Explorer . .. try to use Netscape or something else.

i've always been vigilant in trying to protect my PC. i HIGHLY recommend ADware 6 (dan turned me on to it) and Panda Antivirus Platinum/System Mechanic. their firewall is more powerful than Norton and they have a variety of tools to help clean your hard drive, speed it up, keep your memory at efficient levels and more. Ive been using it for about 2 years now.
the one time i got caught up in something was when i answered an email regarding may paypal account that i thought was legit..and i wound up getting "phished" it was a very involved process to get the money stolen from my account back and i had to change all my passwords etc. i wish yahoo had a more effective spam guard. :worry:

It's Adaware.... Windows has also released their own version of a spyware removal and protection program that also seems to do the job very nicely... like it windows it automatically updates itself with the latest definitions and such... BUT it's still in the beta testing stage, so who knows what direction it will go.
A lot of people I know hate Internet Explorer and turn to alternate browsers. One of the Most popular is the Mozilla FireFox. I use Internet Explorer but a lot of peolpe swear by FireFox: http://www.firefox.com/
Another propular browser out there is also SlimBrowser. This browser is less popular than FireFox but still has its own devoted following: http://www.flashpeak.com/sbrowser/

A good tip that I was given was to boot your pc up in safe mode and run your spyware removals as this stops them starting up before you can remove them. Not sure really how to explain it but it worked for me and got rid of everything that I had been trying with no avail to get rid of.

I swear by Firefox. It's a godsend, far better browser than IE in most respects. Isn't targetted by spyware or viruses (as much) for starters.
