View Full Version : Finger pointing in the election year

Election Day is fast approaching and everyone can see how LITTLE credibility the Bush Administration has. Does anyone beside ME think that the latest dust up where people are now attempting to lay blame on Bill Clinton is MORE than pathetic? this looks to me like political posturing on the part of conservatives and republicans. Bill Clinton's now WIDELY rebroadcast and highly talked about interview on Fox the other night has caused quite a stir it seems...with Hillary Clinton vs. Condoleeza Rice and surprisingly George W. Bush appears to be MORE than exasperated with this...and ADMITTED that he doesnt have time for "finger pointing" (about the smartest thing he's said so far)

the fact of the matter is: 9/11 happened under BUSH'S watch..NOT Clinton...and if everyone knew the END from the BEGINNING then we would be GODS walking on earth wouldnt we? The Republicans are getting desperate IMO and seeing this latest nonsense on TV is more than enough reason for me to want to vote every last republican out of congress.

what do you all think about this?

I saw the Fox News segment where they asked Bill Clinton why he didn't do more to stop Osama Bin Laden and the first thing I thought was.. why aren't they asking this question to Bush? The fact is that 9/11 can't be blamed on either president. It was a surprise attack that really couldn't have been predicted so I don't think laying the blame for it on anyone is really a positive attitude you can take. The only thing you can really consider, IMHO, is the reaction people gave to the attack and as Clinton wasn't president at the time, I don't think he should be brought into this at all.

AGREED. i feel like this is a TACTIC on the part of republicans and conservatives....i mean damn..WHY NOW, 5 years later? if you just HAD to blame someone (and we all know how much conservatives despise Clinton) then why not have brought it up back when the wound was fresh?

the 9/11 Commission reports are totally being ignored by these idiots who want to reach THIS FAR to blame someone.

if you're going to go BACK and blame PAST administrations..then couldnt you keep going ALL THE WAY BACK to George H.W.Bush?

ultimately, you sum it up perfectly. "Clinton wasnt president at the time so he shouldnt be brought up."

why the hell would you wait 6 years after a person has left office to try to demonize them and somehow blame them for something that happened the CURRENT president's watch?

well, on top of what you guys already said, Clinton was IMPEACHED so who KNOWS what he might have done.... while he was allowed to finish the term, he obviously didnt serve a second, which is when the Bin laden thing MIGHT have been dealt with.

Clinton himself has SAID that he developed military plans to overthrow the taliban and capture bin laden but that the FBI and CIA wouldn't 'certify' that Bin Laden was responsible for the bombing of the USS Cole, which happened during Clinton's term. HE left plans for an antiterrorist operation WITH the Bush administration and apparently it was thought at the time that Clinton was 'overly obsessed' with Bin Laden.

So who's fault is THAT??

I personally thought Clinton handled the Fox News ambush very well. He's always been very well-spoken, and I think the main reason he looked pissed is because he wanted to talk about important issues and how much good could be done, rather than some GOP concocted bullshit.

But hey, I've always had a soft spot for Slick Willy. I don't have a problem with a President cheating on his wife if he's a competent one. His personal life is none of my affair until it involves breaking laws.

I must have watched that Fox News interview 100 times, and read the entire transcript. Then the follow thru by Keith Olberman was priceless. Olberman has been my new hero these last few weeks, as he has been calling Bush on his BS almost every night in the last month. No wonder his ratings went up 70% in the last couple of months!

Either way, this is another Karl Rove tactic, that even Clinton pointed out was genius. The GOP knows the "National Security" thing isnt working like it used to, immigration is dead, gay marriage dead, so they go back to Clinton and divert responsibility from Bush, just in time for something "big" to happen and Bush looks competent or at least appears that way. I see Bin Laden being caught or verified dead soon...
