The Grammy's are starting in about a half hour (for me...it's 7:38pm here), so come here and discuss while you watch, or after the awards, and expression you opinion on what you think about the performances, the winners, and losers!
The ALicia Keys performance was amazing....I really enjoyed when Jamie Foxx came out also! :)

Alicia always does an amazing job, so I knew her performance was going to be fantastic, but I agree - it was a good idea for Jaime to do that duet with her, their voices complimented each other perfectly, and it made out to be an even more wonderful performance:nod:. At the moment the U2 performance is ok, but I'm not a huge fan of them anyway - so I'd rather be watching something else:whistle:. But so far the Grammy's are looking promising, even though los lonely boys won the first award, which I think should've been given to another nominee, everything look's like it's going well ^_^.

Yeah I agree. I'm not a huge U2 fan, but I do enjoy some of their music. But the song that they just did i'm in love with. :) Hehe, it was on The OC. :P

this shit is MEGA BORING. everytime U2 gets on a stage at one of these shows...the seem to have the LONGEST performance of anyone who is scheduled..they need to sit their geriatric asses down. Alicia keys moves and acts like a man.....and J.Lo is unbeweavable with that hair....and she sounds FLAT as hell when she sings live

hmm Mavis Staples! ...this is better than most of the other garbage thats been on the show so far tonight.
ahhh Kanye West!!! NOW the show is interesting:D
ETA: GOOD!! Kanye won!!! but now he's up there blustering like a windbag. move it along sweetie...we dont need a mini sermon on the stage!

LOL, I turned it off once DH came on...so I missed all the performances, except I caught the last of Kanye's. It was also good.

ACKKK!! Melissa Ethridge is totally BALD!!
but she's STILL got a powerful voice. she and joss stone are really doing a good job paying tribute to Janis Joplin.
ETA: John Mayer won an award ....well theres no accounting for taste there...

LMFAO, I turned it off after Melissa Ethridge and Joss Stone performed, got tired of it all:yawn:. Some of the stuff I saw was ok, but other then that...eh, it's the Grammy's. What'd you expect? I was kinda dissapointed...I thought it was pretty good when it started, but then it just got boring as hell. I blame it on J.Ho -_-

blame it on the FCC. This telecast of the Grammys felt more like a history lesson than it did a fun and fresh show. Queen Latifah was appealing as always but some of the stuff they had on there was pointless and boring. J.Lo and Marc Anthony's spanish duet served to show that she cannot sing for shit live. she fell flat many times against Marc, actually CAN sing live. Usher needs to STOP channeling Michael Jackson. He think's he's sexy..and he isnt. U2 ...when will they get a clue and sit their asses down? Bono thinks he's some wise political sage (have you seen him on CNN telling folks how the United States could end their budge crisis?!) and the band is OLD...and yet EVERY time they get onstage....their performance lasts longer than anyone else's. WHY did Maroon 5 beat out Kanye West for an award? who the hell listens to them? WHY did Bono, Norah Jones and the rest of those select artists get up there and butcher the Beatles' song, "Across the Universe"? most of those "artists" were off key and the song was just.....so inappropo for the cause they were promoting. the year's Grammys just SUCKED.

I think Kanye got MORE than his dues at the Grammy's... It doesn't bother me that Maroon 5 beat him out for Best New Artist, because Maroon 5 is a great band, 3 No. 1 Hit Singles in a Row, Multi Platinum, plus their release of an all acoustic version of the album. They are really talented and I was happy to see them win.
I was just thinking about Alicia Keys..From my count, since the launch of Songs in A Minor that girl has won 9 Grammys! She won 5 for her first album, and before the actual show even started, she won 3, and then during the show I think she won only one! I kind of feel bad for Gretchen Wilson.. Loretta Lynn winning the Grammy for best Country Album? That was a surprise! And RIGHT after they like built up with a Tim McGraw performance LOL ;)
I was overall happy with the Awards, but yeah Farrah I TOTALLY agree with you about U2, but people LOVE them.. I have never understood it.. I just think they are so NOT good lol... I hate Bono!
I gotta give it to Queen Latifah! She gave a good performance ;)

Wow Farrah...but how do you REALLY feel? :igitt:
My take on the Grammys...
PERFORMANCES
J. LO & MARC ANTHONY - Ok, but a little cheesy. And you said that J. Lo can't sing live? Hell, J. Lo can't sing on CD either! Marc did the damn thing although he was a bit hard on the eyes. He somewhat resembles a small rabbid dog.
ALICIA KEYS/JAMIE FOXX - Alicia nailed her performance of "If I Ain't Got You" and looked absolutely flawless. Jamie and her duet of "Georgia On My Mind" was a nice gesture, but kinda got lost about mid-way. Seemed a little "last minute." And what the hell is up with Jamie and that tattoo in the back of his head???
KANYE WEST - Amazing performance...nothing bad to say about this one. And how many extra cool points did he get for having his own mama in the pulpit as one of the members of the congregation!!!
OPENING ACT - Started out kinda bland, but once you figured out what they were trying to do it made sense and sounded awesome. I loved the medley at the end. Whoever planned that did an awesome job.
QUEEN LATIFAH - Superb performance, even though I missed most of it. :'(
USHER/JAMES BROWN - That little bastard may be cocky but he has every reason to be. He can dance his little flat-nosed ass off. He's shaping up to be a modern-day Michael Jackson/James Brown. I think, however, that Justin Timberlake might try to steal his crown later on when he releases his highly anticipated sophomore album. :D
As far as everything else...the Tsunami tribute was a musical trainwreck. And nothing against the Beatles...but I didn't particularly care for that song even before they further ruined it.
Joss Stone and Melissa ROCKED it! And I love Melissa with no hair, she looks awsome!
Best acceptance speech of the night goes to Kanye West for starting out with "Y'all better get the music ready cuz I'mma be up here for a while" and ending with "everyone wanted to know what I'd do if I didn't win...well, I guess we'll never know."
Second best acceptance speech...Loretta Lynn. She's so country and non-Hollywood. It was comforting to see someone up there who thinks of herself as a regular person and not some glamorous celebrity.
WORST PERFORMANCE: U2. I agree 100% with what you said above, Farrah. They need to vanish. :sure:
BIGGEST UPSETS: John Mayer winning BEST SONG for "Daughters" over some HUGE talent such as Keys, McGraw, Hooba and West. Another upset...Prince sweeping the R&B categories!!! He won Best Male R&B performance and best Traditional R&B vocal performance.
Usher and Kanye both walked away with three, Alicia got 4 and Ray Charles, as we know, got 8.
All in all it wasn't a bad show. I watched the entire thing.
I kind of feel bad for Gretchen Wilson.. Loretta Lynn winning the Grammy for best Country Album? That was a surprise! And RIGHT after they like built up with a Tim McGraw performance LOL ;)
Don't feel TOO bad for Gretchen. She did take home one for Female Country Vocal Performance for "Redneck Woman." She's still new and fresh...plenty of time to walk away with more in the future.
Tim took home two for himself...one for Male Country Vocal Performance and the other for Best Country Song (the songwriter's award). :p

ALICIA KEYS/JAMIE FOXX - Alicia nailed her performance of "If I Ain't Got You" and looked absolutely flawless. Jamie and her duet of "Georgia On My Mind" was a nice gesture, but kinda got lost about mid-way. Seemed a little "last minute." Yeah, it was a worthwhile bore...as usual.
I do want to know why Gwen Stefani wore an outfit from the shredder, Eve wore a chandelier and Beyonce had a loaf of bread in her hair? Quite strange:shrug:
