I remember seeing a poster for this movie when I was down in FL I think back in June or January. It sounded ridiculous and the poster looked far - fetched. Snakes on a Plane was also a horrid title. It gives away TOO much plot, and come on snakes on an airplane? Although it is original I think it'll flop.
When I saw the coming attractions I was not impressed. It looked like green screen garbage to me, and I refuse to see it. How many more snake movies can we make? Anacondas lol and now this?
I think the movie is HOPING to do well with Samuel L. Jackson involved but I think it'll do poorly. And even though there is hype involved that doesn't mean it will do well. I think fans are curious of such a plot, but I think the effects look poorly done.
The previews I saw relie heavily on special effects, where is the realism in that? I detest the title of the movie. We'll see how this movie turns out though.

Critics are already starting to pan the film(but they're mad because they didnt get a pre screening of it).

According to the article, the experience of seeing it in the theatre is actually making thaquality of the movie almost obsolete. Apparently it is almost becoming a Rocky Horror Picture Show-type deal, with cheering and a part atmosphere. I may see it just for that alone.

Well, upon seeing the movie and looking back on how the movie was hyped up, the name itself was actually a very smart move. A lot of movies will just come up with some catching word that vaguely hints at what the movie will be. More to just catch the potential viewers eye. This title pretty much said it all, because it emphasized the concept. Snakes on a Plane. Deadly creatures (some of course, not all) on a plane up in the air in pretty much no man's land. That pretty much right there is an 'oh s--t' scenario. How it's done in the movie without giving anything away is actually pretty smart also. I didn't think so until i thought about it in depth. You'll understand if you see it. If don't get it or want to know what i'm getting at with that, just ask. :) The movie itself isn't setting out to be some epic thriller...it's just a fun movie. Actually, i had more fun at that movie then i have at any movie in a LONG time. Don't take it so seriously as media critics and a lot of folks tend to do, and you'll have a good time. I will say that it does make fun of some movie stereotypes in it's own way just because it can.

This news just in from ComingSoon.net:
After months of "internet buzz", New Line's horror-thriller Snakes on a Plane , starring Mr. Samuel L. Jackson, opened this weekend, but ended up making far less money than most people expected. Opening in 3,555 theatres, the high concept thriller brought in an estimated $15.3 million over the weekend including Thursday night previews, which contributed a reported $1.4 million to that sum.
