View Full Version : Favourite team, and why?

I'm gonna do another poll; I'd like to know your favourite team, or gathering of heroes, and why you chose them. In any universe, under any publishing house, the only requirement is that there are 3 or more members (in order to make it a team rather than pair).
For me, it's Jim Lee's WildC.A.T.S. For those who don't know them, their members are:
Lord Emp (Kheran warlord)
Void (merging of a Kheran Orb of Power and a human)
Spartan (biosynthetic lifeform)
Maul (Gifted One - titanothrope)
Warblade (Gifted One - shaper)
Grifter (human - ex-military, exposed to GenFactor)
Zealot (Coda - Kheran warrior majestrix)
Voodoo (Gifted One - Kheran/Daemonite hybrid)
It's set in the Wildstorm universe, on a backdrop of an ancient war between two starfaring races, the Kherubim and Deamonites. Over 4000 years ago, a part of each crashed on Earth; the Kherans could breed with humans, creating Gifted Ones, while Daemonites could merely "possess" human hosts.
The team is fantastic, because they are dysfunctional on a level beyond all other teams I've seen, whilst having an enormously powerful common bond in their shared goal, even as they're divided by their beliefs, and cliques. All characters are unique, as are their working relationships, and very well-crafted. Chris Claremont's 3-parter, Gathering of Eagles, is one of the best story arcs I have EVER read.

They were among the best/brightest/most powerfull of female super villains and were amassed by Thundra (and Superia in a later timeline) to engineer a society ruled by women.

Aaah, I know some of those Femizons.
Thundra was used as the bait for the fake Hyperion by Master Menace in Squadron Supreme.
Titania got her ass handed to her by the spectacular Spider-Man in Secret Wars, but went on to become a respectable villain, recently beating She-Hulk down (I think).
Last time I saw anything with Arclight, she was still a Marauder, fighting the X-Men in Morlock Alley during Inferno. Likewise Vertigo.
Whiteout was pretty cool, as a Savage Land mutate. She was certainly much better than Amphibious.
Finally, Yellowjacket II. Never liked her, but then I never liked any of the "Pym family" except good ol' Hank himself. Wasp grated on my nerves, and Ant-Man was, I dunno, kinda lame.
Another team I'm very fond of is the X-Men Blue Team, consisting of Cyclops, Wolverine, Psylocke, Gambit, Rogue, Beast and Jubilee.

Thundra was the creator/leader of the ORIGINAL Femizons. The team that i listed was actually the Femizons of the future (23rd century),brought together by Superia, who appeared in the "present day" (1991-20th century) but may still yet appear AGAIN. Thundra was incredibly powerfull and beat the crap out of Thing on MORE than one occassion. She was also a member of the Frightfull Four at one point.
Titania II, at the time of Secret Wars, had JUST been granted her powers by Doctor Doom and she was still very much blinded by her hatred and frenzied need to get back at the world. NOW, she'd PULVERIZE Spiderman (class 85 strength range :D ) she too was on a later incarnation of the frightfull four.
Whiteout got beat down by DAZZLER :D pretty obvious that Dazzler's powers would cancel out Whiteout's powers...but yes she was cool and she made an excellent addition to the Femizons.
Arclight and Vertigo definately fit in with the Femizons..both brutal and had no qualms about killing anyone. and both very adept and powerful.
I actually dont know about Yellojacket 2. i'd never seen her in action until the Femizons. WHO is she? has she ever battled the Wasp? (that might be a Versus topic for MD lol) Wasp is pretty cool :)
but yes...the Femizons are definately interesting. first appeared in 1971...then again in 1991 and may yet appear again.

Yellowjacket II is a thief, I believe, called Rita DeMara; she stole Pym's equipment and Yellowjacket suit, taking the identity with her. She has clashed with Wasp a few times, and was even in the Masters of Evil at one point.
As to Titania, she was that strong then, but Spidey was just TOO fast for her, using his own reasonable strength to pound away until her resistance and resilience was gone.

The X-Men... Of course!
Not because they're popular either hehe. I got in the X-Men during the beginning of the second series back in 1992. I was drawn the the X-Men because I wanted to read about characters like average people.
Superman was just to clean and cut for me... Practically all the mainstream DC superheroes didn't do anything for me. Except Batman! Anyway, Wolverine was all about killing his foes... Not keep them around to have them come back and kill him over and over again. Cable and Bishop drew me in with the big guns. Bishop being black was a plus. Rogue's southern accent, Gambit's card throwing and Jubilee's valley girl attitude helped make me come to love the X-Men.
I could go on, but I'll spare you guys the pain hehe.

So, zerobde, would it be fair to say that the X-Men team roster that you are fond of is the Blue/Gold team era?
You know: Blue Team (Cyclops, Beast, Gambit, Wolverine, Rogue, Psylocke, and Jubilee), and Gold Team (Storm, Jean Grey, Colossus, Iceman, Archangel, and Forge)? Which one of those two do you prefer? Personally, for me it's the Blue Team, since while Gold Team possesses most of the raw power, Blue is far more covert...

I always dug this comic. A group of lesser known DC villiains who were sent by the government on suicide missions to get a pardon. It had a revolving cast of characters (being that many got killed off so others had to come in) and the stories were pretty gritty...

Yes, I'd have to say I'm more fond of the Blue team. The line up is very impressive.

I like the X-Men from MARVEL the best because there are so many of them. I have a different favorite character for every mood that I’m in. Some of them don’t get along with each other so they fight and that’s funny. Like when Gambit threw that pie at Bishop, but it hit Rogue. I don’t know about the rest of you, but that’s the sort of stuff that happens in my everyday life.
