As far as I know, this is the first time ever that two black actors have been nominated both in the Best Actor category (Don Cheadle and Jamie Foxx) and Best Supporting Actor category (Jamie Foxx & Morgan Freeman). And only 10 actors prior to Jamie Foxx have ever been nominated in the Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor category in the same year. Whether they win or not, this is a great year for black actors in Hollywood.:D
The Academy Awards will be presented on Sunday, February 27, at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood and televised live on ABC beginning at 8 p.m. EST.

being the Generation X'er that i am...im going to begin by saying, Clint Eastwood needs to sit his fossilized ass down. He and Jack Nicholson do NOT need be considered for Academy Awards EVER AGAIN...lol. I realize he had his relevance in the movie industry and that he's now an ICON..but really...its ridiculous that at his age...he could possibly over shadow talent like Jamie Foxx or Don Cheadle. he needs to make way for TODAY'S actors. that might be "irreverent of me" but oh well lol.

the two that i think are MOST deserving to win this are Don Cheadle and Jamie Foxx. They BOTH gave powerful and searing performances in their invidual movies. Jamie's portrayal of Ray was so artistic and so accurate it was UNCANNY...and Don Cheadle has come along way since his days on Pickett Fences....he truly is one of the most underrated actors in Hollywood today....Id be happy if either one of them got this honor.

for Best Actress....i am going with Hillary Swank. I realize Annette Bening is "long over due" as many critics say....but I kinda grew up with Hillary ...i remember her from WAYYY back on the MOVIE version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and a brief run on 90210.....and then i saw "Boys Dont Cry" ..that movie was just riveting.....i also saw her in "Insomnia" and i really liked her performance there.....so Im rooting for HER for "Best Actress".

Best Picture....im rooting for Ray. that movie was just beautiful ...i loved it.

I really hope that Natalie Portman wins for Best Supporting Actress. I used to not really admire her work, and then I saw Garden State, and she was really amazing. She is a lot better actress than I gave her credit for, and she did already win the Golden Globe for it.. Let's hope it's a foreshadowing! :)

Hilary Swank better win that thing. She is such a talented actress! I loved her in Buffy the Vampire Slayer as well! She was the bitch that stole Buffy's yellow jacket after telling her it was so five minutes ago lol ;)

I think Don Cheadle should win for Hotel Rawanda, Don is a much better actor than Jamie Foxx and Don has been slept on for too long, I hope he upsets Foxx.

Clint? You are dissing CLINT!!!!:mad: Clint has made great films, his flims of late have been intelligent, Mystic River was awesome, his films speak to adults and are genius and he has shown that his direction and productiong abiliities are even better than this acting abilities. You are right, unlike Jack Nicholson Clint can direct and produce. I just saw an movie he did about a White House cover up and "Bloodwork" Clint's movies move at the pace of real life.
