Simpson's Diva Demands? http://entimg.msn.com/i/300/celeb/JessicaSimpson_300x2984.jpgIs Jessica Simpson (http://entertainment.msn.com/celebs/celeb.aspx?c=316699) getting too darn big for her Daisy Dukes? According to the New York Post, the seemingly ubiquitous Mrs. Lachey took a page from the high-maintenance handbook of Mariah (http://entertainment.msn.com/artist/?artist=16117745) and J. Lo (http://entertainment.msn.com/celebs/celeb.aspx?c=235788) when People tapped her to host a post-MTV Video Music Awards soiree in Miami.
The super-slim starlet, along with little sis Ashlee (http://entertainment.msn.com/artist/?artist=16659129), was reportedly set to MC and perform at the Aug. 28 bash at the five-star Setai resort, but allegedly made so many unreasonable requests that the magazine decided to bail out as a sponsor.
"Her demands became outrageous. She wanted everyone to set up shop at 6 a.m. and be there for like 24 hours," a snitch tattles to the paper. "She wanted $20,000 for hair and make-up, $80,000 for a technical production budget which her father, Joe, was overseeing, and over 30 rooms at the Setai."
Also complicating matters, another insider tells the Post, was the exclusive deal that Simpson's father cut with OK! magazine, a pact purportedly worth about $200,000 for six cover stories.
"Her hosting the party for People magazine was a direct violation of her contract with OK!" says a source. "If she had gone through with it, she would have been sued."
People opted out of the bash on Thursday, with the mag's mouthpiece explaining to the paper, "We had an agreement with Jessica and Ashlee Simpson to co-host an event the night of the VMA event. But because of logistics and technical problems, it didn't work out."
Simpson's rep further downplays the ditched plans: "There were discussions with People about their VMA after-party, but Jessica and Ashlee were unable to do the party with them because of other sponsors involved with the event that would create conflicts with Jessica's master licensing deal and Ashlee's contract with Thermasilk. Both girls are extremely conscious of their business deals and would do nothing to violate those relationships."
Meanwhile, Ashlee, currently out promoting her upcoming role as a hygiene-deficient wannabe thespian in the soon-to-be-released "Undiscovered (http://entertainment.msn.com/movies/movie.aspx?m=582458)," is attempting to distance herself from reports that she's back together with Ryan Cabrera. "We are dear friends now," the warbler tells Liz Smith of the coif-challenged popster.
